Not a fan of the Beck, kind of a dizzying card.

Tyson Beck's cards are so damn clean! Love his style and think this is the best Thomas to date.

Maybe I'm a bit sensitive, but c'mon.
Sensitive enough to know that his fighter pilot legacy was from the Korean War, not WW2? He was in instructor in WW2, but his combat missions were over Korea ~1953ish. Fun fact - he was John Glenn's (future astronaut / senator / space shuttle astronaut) wingman for a good chunk of his time in combat. Ted was probably chilling somewhere in Indiana or Hawaii when those bombs dropped, having never seen much more than instructor duty. Granted, his instructor duty was probably because his skill as a pilot made him more valuable training new guys than risking himself in combat.

Also - I didn't see the mushroom cloud at first. Not trying to discount in any way how horrible the bombs were. The loss of life was significant and tragic. The civilians of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in no way deserved the fate that the American government imposed upon them. But this massive show of force prevented the need for an invasion of the Japanese homeland. Casualties would have been tremendous. Not so fun fact - every Purple Heart medal the US military has issued since 1945 has been issued from the order placed in anticipation of casualties from the invasion of the Japanese main islands. The medals themselves are older than almost every soldier, sailor, airman, or marine who has ever earned one.

When someone asked: Ted Williams mistreated cryogenically frozen head on a platter?

Thiele responded: Yes, but it was professionally restored by prestigious art handlers and then was blown up and polished for all of Boston to idealize.
Real talk - my first impression of Thiele Williams was Ecce Mono.

My take on the last few, since I know everyone is waiting with bated breath.

Fucci Mattingly - interesting. I like that he kept the same font for the lowercase "a" to link this one and Ripken, maybe others. But those two stick out to me since that letter just seems different.

Taylor Jackie - Amazing card. His stuff has been growing on me lately, and I loved his Henderson. I think he bottomed out at Jeter, which fell flat in hand. The good Colonel has shown me the error of my ways with his Clemente, and I see a lot more in that card now than I did at first glance (again, maybe having to wait 2 months between purchase and receipt has something to do with it.) Ripken was really nice, and now his Jackie is hands down his best card in the set for me so far, how is anyone else not seeing it? So so solid. I love the simplicity and the Vegas style nameplate instead of the usual 1952 Topps box and autograph.

I'm doing a live stream in 40 mins, chatting with Andrew Thiele.

Like many of us... I have some questions about his Ted Williams card. This should be fun.

Watch here. https://www.crowdcast.io/e/efdot-live-stream--

Starts 9:30pm EST. You don't need to be in my Patreon to watch.

If you're not streets behind, you're streets ahead.

Henderson was great. Can;t wait to get cards in hand to prove myself wrong.
