One of the easiest slabs I have ever cracked. I have 2 SGC 9.5 I cracked of Brady that are now at the red and white label company.

Agreed they’re the cheapest. I’ve cracked them with little effort and not damaged them. Maybe the faintest of frosting but honestly think I could have even avoided that if I tried.

Fees, grades, TAT, slab, labels ,registry , and sales make a complete picture. Grades is not even half way to the full circle of grading.

I mean there's cards that gem mint 90-95% of the time. Having only two mint grades makes most of PSA grading fairly meaningless. But I guess if you want to use the circular logic that PSA 10s go for more therefore they are completely different cards from an SGC 10 in quality because they go for more, be my guest. I think if you did a blind study, you'd be fairly well shocked as evidenced here by the numbers of people who have cracked 9.5s elsewhere and gotten PSA 10s at a fairly high clip.

Ooh another instance where a 10 is twice as hard to get from SGC. But surely with the card at Pop 20,000 at PSA, each one of those was picked over with a fine tooth comb to the point where PSA is just grading the best copies. It totally wasn’t from people indiscriminately sending in their stacks from Yankee team breaks.

Define.

Just cracked this one today. The top edge and top corners are still intact. Slid the card out the bottom.

Yeah. I get that PSA goes for more. There's just not really a reason aside from they're PSA.

SGC slabs can most certainly be cracked with very little evidence of such.

I enjoyed this interview with Peter. He represents SGC well and its refreshing to see someone so transparent and relatable lead a company.

My altered 1941 Play Ball Joe Dimaggio was just dropped off at the post office. Can't wait to get it back in its permanent home.

Beautiful cards! There is so much more left for me to collect, but at these prices getting 1% of the cards I want is impossible.

My order is lacking. I think it is because it arrived Thursday last week, and they didn't get it done by Friday. My order is still in post-processing, but I checked the POP report and the seller images, and my card is there. I thought it would have gotten an A because someone did try to erase some of the writing, but I got a 1. It doesn't matter, because it is a Joe DiMaggio card with no creases on the front or paper loss. The writing on the back doesn't bother me since I know I will never be able to afford a better copy of this card. I can't wait until I get my shipping information.

Any specific technique for cracking SGC compared to other slabs? I have a couple that I want to crack.

So easy. I just take a scraper like this, but could also use a screwdriver, and find the seam/groove between the front and back part of the slab and twist it back and forth to start separating it. Then carefully work your way down the sides to get it all the way open.

Small pocket screwdriver. Insert into groove and twist. Try starting near the corners. You should be able to split the two halves.

Very, very old PSA holders can be cracked this way, too.
Very old PSA holders had almost no gap, so it took a thinner blade.
For 15+ or 20+ years (not sure), PSA holders have no gap or seam on the edge to pry apart, so snipping into a PSA holder near the top corner corner, then prying with a screwdriver is the way.

Wow, you don't even need to crack the corner off first like with other slabs? That's kind of nuts.

Order popped, fairly happy overall, more so wanted them slabbed and preserved.

Looks like cards are still entering post grading a day or two after they are submitted.

Fast is definitely not their problem. They have amazing turnaround time. Liquidity, especially modern is. Vintage is no problem at all.

Would venture a guess that liquidity with a lot of cards regardless of grading company is an issue now.

Liquidity is still there with PSA. If it is hard to sell a PSA slab, excluding vintage, selling SGC slabs is even more difficult.

No doubt. I just think people assume it being in a PSA slab makes it movable. And while it's all relative, I think PSA slabs are also kind of cratering.

PSA at $15, 10 card minimum. Your turn SGC...
