garage sale pickups today. 1992 topps minis, a book full of 8x10 photos I will send most of them ttm, a rangers pink pennant I will try to get signed ip, a Bob Lemon PSA DNA cert cut auto, and these cards in a can you actually have to use a can opener to get the cards out.

btw the Redd's Apple Ale is not mine. The people at the garage sale threw the stuff in the box.
Non Sports Items I found were a 1984 See 'N Say, Pokemon Colosseum for Gamecube, and a Pentax K1000 camera. Not a bad day

A few recent decent finds.

Second one of these in a month. Pretty rare with the felt lettering. Starter Hornets Baseball Jersey Paid $2

Good ole Spuds $1

Surf Style jacket. Paid a quarter. I stock up on long sleeves/jackets when it's warm. Always cheap and great holds for cooler months. Already sold this one for $45 shipped. Worth investment!

Stoked on these! Not my size, but brand new Brooks Basketball shoes. Paid $2. Size 9. Got some offers but likely gonna hold onto em for awhile. Love these.

Last but not least JJ Stokes Starter jersey. Have a couple offers here too, but likely a piece I keep.

Went out for dinner and to the book store with my wife and on the way back we were going to swing in to the thrift store. Well they were already closed but the Goodwill right across the street was still open. So we pulled in and headed to the front door only to find out they were closing in 10 minutes, well we went in anyway for a quick run through. This is one of the Goodwill outlets so they have the big blue rolling bins with all the stuff just thrown in there so no organization at all. I literally walked right to these, they were in the 4th bin I scanned.

2 Green Bay Packers snapbacks (the white one is from Citgo and says 1995 NFC Central Champions on the side)

I have a Goodwill right next to my gym. Thinking I'll stop in and give a look. Assuming Goodwill has decent stuff. Do you guys that have success approve of Goodwill, or is it the mom and pop thrift stores where the goodies are?

Stopped by one goodwill in my neighborhood, definitely going to be hitting up some others.

Here's the score:

2 Tommy Bahama Button Up Short Sleeve Shirts
2 Marithe Francois Girbaud T Shirts
Honduras Soccer Jersey

Picked up the 5 for $40. More than I'd like, but looking at eBay, should be able to double it. Will let you know the outcome.

On the purse question. Most fakes if you look and the ring where the strap is at its not a solid ring. Real ones have a SOLID ring. Also you can tell a big difference in the leather.

The first one was pretty run-down looking even though it's in a pretty nice town. They had a huge open floor plan with tons of racks/shelves/etc. I took a stroll around through just about everything. Everything just seemed like junk. Blah clothes, dirty appliances, broken/old electronics (not antique!) ... and nothing that really stood out as possibly having any value. I know my antiques/collectibles/valuables pretty well at a glance -- and this place was BARREN! I did stumble upon the rack of women's purses. Felt a bit weird looking at them, but what the hell. Saw a Louis Vuitton brown purse/bag on a rack. It was attached with a plastic cable. I examined it and it seemed solid, but I said to myself "This can't be real! It's a $300+ purse, and Louis Vuitton ... PEOPLE KNOW THESE" So nobody would drop that off at Goodwill, nor would a worker there let that fly out on the rack for .... $19.99! I did my tour of the store and went back near that rack and saw some elderly lady standing guard by it. She called an employee over and said "I would like this" ... and that was that! So I'm telling myself, so I don't feel bad, that it was a knock-off fake and I would have wasted $20 anyways. But I thought about it and wanted to ask here -- how do you guys know if things like this are real or fake? I wouldn't want to put it up on eBay and then face consequences if it was fake? It felt sturdy and solid, but just felt too good to be true? I know things can slip through the cracks, but it's not like some of the "subtly unknown" valuables you guys posted here...so what would you have done?

So then I went to the next one about 10 mins down the road. I've dropped off a ton of stuff at this location in the past, but never went inside. I go inside and it has a "pawn shop" feel to it. Tight spaces, racks crammed everywhere. Giant display case in front filled with smaller items of "value" such as an iPod, digital cameras, camcorders, etc. Everything was RIDICULOUSLY priced ... $150 for the used camcorder, $75 for the iPod. I mean, maybe those values are OK ... but not at a Goodwill! It's not like the things are in mint condition or anything! So I looked through the racks, there's old people wandering everywhere. Some dirty scummy guy kept sniffing his nose and making this disgusting sound, he smelled like nasty old food. Most of the people around me were talking in non-English languages ... it was just gross to be there. After making a stroll through everything, again, nothing but junk and crap!

Spent $0 and have a bit of remorse for not buying the LV bag! Not sure I'll be into doing this stuff again if these places didn't even have ONE item I felt comfortable buying. Is there a good time to go? Should I go early in the morning to see what they've put out? I know they put out new items throughout the day so it's sort of a crapshoot. I went at about 11:00am . Both places were pretty busy with scummy people walking around (I was one of them I guess haha).

On the Hawaiian shirts, other than Tommy Bahama, what other brands should I look for?

Thift paid off for me last week. Picked up a 3XLT Ralph Lauren shirt that was a silk/linen blend. Wore it to Omaha this past weekend for the Berkshire Hathaway meeting.

Hello guys, I have a goodwill OUTLET store opening about 20 min from me next week and was just wondering how it works, what to look for, when to be there, where to stand/wait, etc.

The outlets are awesome at times. Be prepared for a lot of crazy people though. Bring a pair of gloves when you go. And usually wear clothes you don't mind getting real dirty from the dust. Etc. they charge by the pound. Usually cheaper by the more you buy. Also be prepared for a lot of crazy people fighting over stuff. It gets very intense at times.

Do any of the clothes dealers on here need military uniforms or gear?

Shoot me a PM if interested, looking to free up some room.

Thanks
