His BA has gone from .180 to .293 in 4 days. Hope he can keep it up.

I
Man, a great 104mph hit then stealing 2nd and 3rd! Score on an infield hit! That’s one of the reasons why I think he’s different and will be a great one!

In theory any player can outplay the odds of live up to expectations but in my opinion Langford won’t be more than a solid player with a long career ahead of him.

George Springer except Wyatt made it to the bigs a bit younger.

Which during his prime years Springer was a very good player allstar with a fringe MVP season thrown in. But outside of Astros fans I don’t know that he was ever widely collected.

Might be selling him a little bit short because he’s got better speed but I think it’s about that tier of player.

I mean aren’t most players hobby dead after a few years? Only the top like 3% of players stay hobby relevant outside of team collectors after a few years in the league. Then if you change teams a time or two those team collector markets get hit as well.

It’s a very small group of guys that are collected to a significant degree through their entire careers and after they retire. Langford could surprise to the upside but there are multiple examples of .260-280/30/10 guys that do that for years and that’s a good player but not a star that is as you put it “hobby ded”.
Like I said though Langford has upside to be more and he might hit it. But his 75% outcome is probably that tier of player.

Well look at Jackson Holliday

He was super mega prospect guy but thus far projects to be just above average as a player, yet his card prices are still quite high relative to his performance

I imagine he goes the same way unless he has some big revelatory moment

He may very well just turn out to be a solid mlb player for years, but I’ve seen a lot of guys come and go over my 50 years. Langford just looks/feels different. Works hard, hits hard, runs hard. Everything he does is all out. He has put together stretches where he is elite. I think he will put it all together and be elite for a long time. He is in his year 23 season. There have been many elite players step it up after 23, and he already has 6.5 war (baseball references) in a year and a half. Best yet to come!!

Exactly....right now pretty everybody who's been in the league more than a couple of years is "hobby-dead" except for Ohtani and Judge.

You can pick up numbered cards of future HOFers like Verlander & Scherzer for pennies, Trout and Harper have become hobby afterthoughts, Betts is having a down year, Soto is on his fourth team in four years, and everyone is worried about Acuna's knees.
