This is a sensible answer.

Horrible value, but should be a fun rip to pass the time.

Count me in this boat, if I get a few packs, great! If not, who cares!

Just will never pay more than the $15 a pack starting price though, and even that is a bit cringy.

I for one am glad that they announced a time. Better to only waste a few minutes with a website that won't work than an entire frustrating day like with Draft Sapphire.

And the website is already not working at the moment for the daily Project 2020 cards.

Just like you could potentially break project 2020 packages, you could do the same for these, just don't open the Topps package you receive... or maybe they come inside another box inside the package which is likely sealed of some sort, and then break live.

I had a dream I was lucky enough to get a few packs of this. I opened them and it was all junk, some of them were even redemptions for regular cards that weren’t finished yet.

I should’ve taken that as a sign, but here I am counting the minutes to try to struggle with the website with everyone else. Definitely not addicted.

I’m guessing they’re the base chrome autos with a stamp on them. Basically just a variation. Stickers would shock me. But who knows.

It's not quite that bad. If this was just the usual Bowman checklist, for a Bowman proper release there's maybe fewer "firsts" than I might expect. Maybe shallow. But some interesting names.

Looks like there are about 40 guys out of the 150 that don't have Bowman autos (42 by my quick eyeballing) yet in one of the typical 3 bowman releases. 35 don't have any bowman at all. So for those of you playing along at home, that's 35 (by my count) guys who SHOULD have a 1st Bowman emblem. And we can be furious if it's different than that (barring me missing one or two).

So - if you are in at original prices, I think even beyond Jasson there is value although at first glance maybe a shallower checklist than 2019 Bowman - more in line with 2018 Bowman, I think.

And to stay on topic, paper base versions of 98% of the checklist after initial release EVEN WITH a magic emblem so we can all remember the quarantine of 2020 are going to sit in stacks in basement corners (or maybe the garbage). Fun for $15... but I think Opening Day is fun at $15, too. It doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Chrome autos? I'll wait to be amazed at their insert rate. If this is 24 packs/box... 1 auto/24 packs probably would be as good as you can hope. So then you are paying (even at MSRP original prices) $360/auto. Which ... checks math... isn't good - even at current crazy bowman prices. And then WHICH autos and WHO is SP or HYPER printed?

So we don't know odds on autos.

We don't have an auto checklist.

We don't know if the autos are 1st autos or 4th year autos.

We don't know if they are on card or stickers.

We don't know print runs or odds of color.

All that is known is $15 for 10 paper base with some shot at a paper parallel which will likely be forgotten when regular Bowman drops.

This is a genius move by Topps. These packs probably cost less to make than regular bowman (given chrome cards are more expensive / require extra steps). All they do is all stamp on "1st edition" and charging $15 for what would otherwise be sold at target for $2.99. Bravo to them.

We all know what is going to happen when they release. They are following Panini's footsteps and taking advantage of the opportunity here.
