Baseball and football are not world sports like soccer is , but they do have one market , which is the US trading card market , and that thing is HUGE , NFL doesn’t need ROW to care about NFL cards because of how enormous the North American market already is

Alex Ovechkin nut rookie cards should be worth 20 million rubles because Russian oligarchs are rich, but unfortunately they aren’t because Russian oligarchs don’t collect
Most Americans don’t collect, they FLIP. Flipping drives up prices…apparently Europeans and Russians don’t like flippers driving up their prices

3. Yes soccer is a world wide sport but how many of the people that DO know soccer can afford soccer card prices? Just the nature of the hobby means that tons who DO know who the stars are can't afford them etc.
Unless the soccer sportscard market gets going in a significant way in Europe and South America it will always rank 4th/5th.

My gripe with it at the moment is the shite Panini is putting out. Soccer wax gives less bang for your buck than NBA wax currently does - and that's no mean feat. I opened some retail soccer chronicles today and it is hot garbage.

2018-19 Donruss was a great product but they haven't produced it since. Just stuck it in chronicles which is awful( the fish that John West rejected). They have to get some consistency going. Donruss should've been a stand alone product produced on a yearly basis. There are too few soccer products being produced and prices for wax are stupid. Soccer has probably the worst ROI of all the sports.

Even if the soccer hobby remained US centric (the US probably accounts for 80%-90% of the sportscard hobby world wide) it could be so much better if there was a bit of consistency in product production. Build up some brand recognition like Prizm for football and basketball and Bowman for baseball. Topps has been doing a decent job with its Bundesliga and Champion's league products but Panini should be honing in on everything else especially the Spanish, Italian and French Leagues with Prizm just as it currently does with the Premier League.

More product, and more consistency and bring the price for wax down which already seems to have its potential as the pre-eminent hobby sport built in.

Bring back Donruss/Optic on a yearly basis and ditch the poo that is Chronicles.

P.S I am unable to post any cards here as that would be embarrasing. I have a Nick Suzuki SP Authentic FWA PSA10. That's probably my best card $$$wise. Pulled and graded by yours truly.

That show was so great. This scene alone would get you cancelled 6 different ways today.

My collection is quite small, but here's my one-two punch

1899 Honus Wagner Rookie - I fell out of my chair when I found out this existed! It is one of, if not the best example of this that I've ever seen (IIRC, only 5 or so others have come to market).

1915 Cracker Jack Shoeless Joe Jackson - An online friend directed me to where this was for sale, and it has made me smile ever since!

This is mine. It is the slightly rare version with both English and French text on the back.

Your definition of big must be like my ex-gf's if you think a couple of $10k+ cards aren't big enough

My singular best; Michael Jack.

Hard to believe we’ll both be 50 next year.

Had to go back through this thread to see what I considered my best cards in February 2021. Fun to see how much my collection has grown since then.
