And so the plot thickens.

I KNEW something was fishy about that 9.5 sale someone posted about a few years ago.

edit: I had to re-read that. So Steve also purchased a 9.5 gold /23? Or did he purchase it raw and then have it graded 9.5?

Anyone confirm?

Just to avoid confusion, the Steve you're all referring to uses the online handle backtoreality, is that correct? Edit: or is it Bill?

Are people just using names from that fake movie script that got posted in here?

Ok, just wanted to be sure. I think that movie script with imaginary characters is going to cause unnecessary confusion.

This thread is sickening. So many scum human beings in this hobby and on this planet.

For those of you guilty of these atrocities and reading, I hope you have a moderately horrible day tomorrow.

One thing is certain, Eric's silence is deafening everywhere except for google.

This thread is an ugly reminder for him.

Yeah, I'm no businessman but when given the opportunity to clear my name and my businesses name I'd probably feel compelled to take it and the only thing that would keep me silent (and this is what's most troubling from my perspective) is if I knew that someone else could and would prove that whatever I was going to say would be untrue.

Really thought it would grade higher. Sorry, no extra money for you." So that deal is now finalized, rookies doesn't receive his bonus $ and is none the wiser to the scam that is about to happen, and BNC/sohrob can get to trimming to get the card up to a BGS 9 like they knew they could all along.
I was thinking this as well. Either that theory or Rookies graded it himself as a 7.5/8 then went to the ‘card doctor’ Sohrob and/or Eric to sell his card under the condition he would get the 3k or 10k kickback after the scum magic was done. It graded higher and he got burned.

Rookies tried to out him with the old post but after getting some heat put on him tried to throw it under the rug so he didn’t hurt his Sohrob connection. If you check Sohrobs post history it’s 75% high end exquisite cards.

Regardless of how it played out, I think all 3 were well aware of what was going to happen to the card after the transaction took place.

These are just my personal thoughts so I could be entirely wrong though.

Let me lay out the connected dots so far in my head and see where you guys stand. Many arrows point to Sohrob as being the trimmer. He was the middle-man in the oddly constructed payout plan between rookies and Eric. Makes sense it would be sent to him to be trimmed then sent off to BGS before being sent to Eric in BGS 9 form. There is no denying the card was trimmed somewhere between rookies and Eric. Sohrob is also the middleman in Verona's lost Exquisites where he submitted Exquisites for Verona. It appears his job included cracking out cards for resubmission as well as submitting raw cards. Maybe he is well known in the high-end community, I dont know maybe there are a bunch of sohrob-types but it appears he knows at least a handful of high-end guys to provide a service where he preps and sends cards off to be graded to BGS. I think we can all now speculate that "prep" included trimming. The extent to which his clients knew exactly what he was doing is a grey area but is something we should all hope to learn more about. I dont know where that information is going to come from, unfortunately. At this point, what does Eric have to gain by coming out here other than to say he's not the trimmer. I just hope that these are isolated instances but based on the overall mood from the high-end community it almost feels as if it was common knowledge.

Of course it’s common knowledge! These high-end guys always talk about how small the community is and how well they know each other. BNC hasn’t said anything because he has nothing to say, and doesn’t want to be present in this thread, where he’d be forced to acknowledge a six figure card of his is a fraud.

Curious, where did the term 'sohrob' come from?

Sounds vaguely familiar, but google search turns up nothing.

Eric Bitz of buynicecards.com is most definitely still involved in the hobby, and with the high-end inventory he has and the infinite memory of the internet...every card should be questioned.

As for Sohrob, I don't believe he's directly involved in the hobby any longer, however it would make sense that he's using (or used) his trimming business to fund other projects.

The fact that both of these alleged participants are accessible and not hiding in the shadows is a testament to two things. First, the hobby as a whole doesn't seen to really care, especially the grading companies. Secondly, they don't seem to care.

And as they both certsinly read this thread about trimming Lebron James Exquisite autograph patch rookie card #/99 Gold #/25 and countless other cards...the internet is an unforgiving place. With a long, long memory.

If you want to buy nice cards, you should assume you might be buying 99% of that original card.

My biggest take from this thread is that either now, or at some point, Eric has owned two Lebron Exquisites /99 that have been trimmed. If this were any other person in the Hobby, they'd be crucified immediately. Middleman or not, it's impossible to ignore Eric's involvement (voluntarily or involuntarily) in this situation.
