Well if this logo is tarnished, he can just select one of the others from the contest he paid for to design him a logo:

1) does anyone have authoritative list of cards that have sketchy backgrounds so I can avoid them?

2) there was talking about the 50/99 card earlier. Does anyone have any more information about it?

This was brought to me earlier and not sure what to make of it.

Thanks,

If you're shopping around for this card, you should also be aware that there are people who are actively trying to alter the market for it. The last confirmed high sale was at 95k for a /23 card, not a /99. There was an attempt by Eric Bitz/BNC and an associate of his to boost the value of a /99 card over 100k. The true value of a /99 is significantly less than 95k and they're not exactly any more rare than they used to be, nor are they showing up and more or less before these attempts. This, along with the fact that there is an unknown number of altered cards out there means you really need to be careful. I would not touch any card that BNC has had possession of, it is, metaphorically speaking, the same as sleeping with a woman that has been with Derek Jeter.

LMAO, I'm glad that word has spread over to all the big forums. BNC is clearly trying to expand so he can dump his stock.

heh, I went on to a couple of Insta pages and got sick to my stomach. The amount of salesman tactics and hype on there is revolting...particularly the misuse of the word Hobby and Collector.

Here's my takeaway from all this - the high end card market is a cesspool. It's really sad and unfortunate for the hobby, but greed is a powerful emotion. One wonders if it's a matter of time before we see a story about someone indicted for fraud.

Oh man, that would be beautiful. Maybe a good wake up call to all these parasites who want to pillage our hobby for financial gain.

Hopefully it would trim some losers out of this hobby.

All the evidence is here on these boards, gift wrapped for any prosecutor. However, a prosecutor would probably want a victim who actually bought one of these trim jobs to proceed.

I see what you did there.

Look, trimming out the losers in the high end market is a good thing, but at the end of the day, one must do their homework before jumping into the high end market when looking to buynicecards.

I know that 64/99 was mentioned in the original post, but I don't remember how far in depth it was discussed. Seems like it fizzled out after the first 3-5 pages. I just wanted to add some slightly further in depth history on this one. (I don't see any images of 64/99 in the OP, also, the OP mentioned 63/99 being a one color patch, but I think that's a typo, the correct number being 64/99, because 64 is a one color patch.) (EDIT 6/23/19: the mention of 63/99 was NOT a typo, 63/99 has in fact been altered with an aftermarket patch, see this post in this thread: https://www.blowoutforums.com/showpo...postcount=3735)

Go to this thread (Page 6, https://www.blowoutforums.com/showth...=828012&page=6) and read from post 135 to post 142. (Make sure you look at the dates too.)

Click the link in post 135, you will find that the auction has been ended, but you can still click to view the original item/auction.

It resolves to a buynicecards listing. If you click to see full item description, it's a generic description that doesn't reveal any details on what the card is. Fortunately, due to the discussion in the thread linked above, we know it's 03/04 Exquisite LBJ RPA 64/99.

Now, consider that this card was originally a BGS 9 (as revealed in the thread linked above) and then became a BGS 6. I wonder how that might have happened? Obviously someone cracked it out, the centering and surface didn't change much, but the corners and edges were obliterated. I've cracked cards out of slabs before so that I could put them in mags, but the process of cracking a card out of a slab would not cause the condition to change unless you clip the card itself or you deliberately cause damage to the edges and corners. (Edges and corners are number one when it comes to trim jobs.)

I think this is a botched trim job, but you come to your own conclusion - also, the reason I mentioned looking at the dates...at the very least, this goes back to 2016, but I don't know when the trimming damage took place, (Further back than that perhaps?) this thread popped up around two years later in 2018, so how many other cards are floating around, trimmed/doctored/altered before this thread was made? How many people are involved in this network?

Here is an image of this card in BGS 6 condition, courtesy of buynicecards.com's LBJ RPA database: https://buynicecards.com/product/200...64-99-bgs-6-10

Here is the inconvenient image of the same card in BGS 9:

EDIT - Must have been trimmed before 2016:
Worthpoint: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...uto-1747400012
eBay, look at full description, exactly the same and (shows us end date, 2015): https://www.ebay.com/itm/27178031529...&ul_noapp=true

Before I go any further with this card, is this a bad scan, or some kind of artifact from a bad scan, or does this card have a ding in the top center/front?

Potential screwdown/mag shadow I’d say.

hmm...could be, I'd like to get more eyes on this for opinions. The other scans this guy has in his gallery don't have that mark, but you could easily be correct.
