Started to DELETE all of my 50,000+ listings!

All of my energy has been focused on eBay Live, and selling low end volume is really slowing me down and costing me money. Feels like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

I do more in sales in a weekend on Live than I used to do in a month BIN.

Wowza! What a turn from your original goal of 100,000 listings. That is great! How often do you do eBay live?

Do you advertise ahead of time what you plan to sell on the weekend? I take it an uptick of followers as well?

Is eBays cut the same or a different percentage that your standard listings?

Card Show Ready Update

Finally sold the last one. It got all the way down to $120. Plus there was a discount, so more like $114.

Final Tally: +$199.58 on $239.33 spent, 13.5 hours**. That's an ROI of 83% which is more than acceptable and about double what I get on normal stuff. That's $14.78 per hour, which is below my norm, however it is better than what I typically make on low end stuff. I didn't write down when I started this project, but the first one was up after spring training, so four months or so.

**This doesn't count the extra time I spent bidding on items specifically for these lots. In normal times that would just meld into my overall bidding so it would be pretty quick, but still some cost.

All in all it's a great way to spend $ and a pretty good way to spend extra time.

In the meantime, I have sold three more Card Show Ready Lots (2-300 @ the full $150, 1-100) that had $0 into them (leftovers), plus a couple more related lots. This is definitely going to be a part of my MO going forward, especially during slow times.

Yup, these lots absolutely do move even if it takes some time. I’ve sold around 8 of them since the dude here posted about them. I’m a believer.

Glad it’s working for you guys. I borrowed the idea from someone already selling these on eBay and was happy to pass it forward.

I can tell you the top loaded aspect is key, as I’ve tried to do the lots that are just sleeved and they are dead on the vine.

Holy item specifics Batman! eBay has really stepped up their game with the auto fill.

I tip my cap to you for calling the audible. Too many people refuse to adapt. I did the same thing last fall (in a different direction) and I have tripled my net revenue. It almost doesn't seem real I'm doing so well.

I started liquidating most stuff of value in my store over the course a few months, and I am down to just small stuff now. I actually hate getting sales because I don't want to take the time to package up the $3 cards now. It isn't worth my time anymore. And I made NET six figures every year selling these little cards so I never would have dreamed I would stop doing it.

Bottom line is things change. The most successful people are the ones who see the changes and do something to stay ahead of the curve. Love hearing other peoples stories about changing direction and doing even better.

I love that quote. I don't want to be good. I want to be the best.

You tease us with this and don't tell us the change you made? It's the opposite of eBay Live, so eBay Dead? Is it still sportscards? Is it more in person stuff? Are you working for that Nigerian Prince that keeps sending me letters?

Trying to get approved to do eBay Live is a pain. Used to do stuff on Facebook live, but nothing current. I have been approved to sell on Whatnot since the beginning, but I can't stand it so have not done it in forever. Oh well.

Haha! I am almost always generic with information I give out. I will say its more sealed wax related and leave it at that. I've got data points that I have put together to find trends and I've gotten really good at predicting which products do what. Its taken me a couple of years to really pin point what I was trying to find with price fluctuations but I feel like I am really getting it dialed in.

Well thanks to Nick Kurtz I am up 72% from last July and have had 5 $100+ days. With the National kicking off this week was a nice bump and it started off with selling 2024 Donruss which was a great product to crack a couple cases of.

Interesting concept. I've spent the entire summer getting my remaining inventory "show ready" for actual shows lol. All new toploaders, new sleeves, priced well. I think I'm up to ten 4-row boxes.

I prefer shows themselves because that's where I do most of my buying to restock my boxes, but I may bookmark this idea down the road if I ever need to move some bulk.

But for some reason they'll correctly fill in No for autographs but then fill in some random player for "signed by" and have other attributes that suggest there's an auto. Event is often Super Bowl even for football players who've never been to one.

I'm seeing World Series on virtually every baseball player as well. That's an easy uncheck compared to the old way of having to go through and add everything else.

I like the "ending soonest with bids" option they added if you narrow your search to auction results.

You could always do that through advanced search, but now it will be easier for newbies to browse auctions.

July was my best month ever on eBay, even spending a week on vacation, promoting a 2-day card show, and being at the National the last few days of the month.

My year-to-date numbers are now 220% higher than last year.

So I doubled up from June and Tripled up from what my July was a year ago. August is going really good also.

With the traditional summer slow sales, I keep expectations low. On top of that, with low expectations I went on 2 long vacations. My family took a 3 week cruise to Norway and then my wife and I did a 8 day trip to Maui for our 15 year anniversary. So I expected slow sales, and I was gone for literally half of June/July. Much to my surprise, when I added up my sales my July was my 3rd best month this year. Which blew my mind. I do not recall ever having a summer so strong with sales and I have been doing this for a long time.

I'm glad others are experiencing the same thing. Now, with expectations remaining low, I expect a little bit of a slower August since the summer was so strong. It has to level off at some point doesn't it? We can't make it through an entire year with no bad months can we? Because I fully expect this fall and winter to be insanely good. Baseball products are going to be awesome and basketball is about to switch to Topps. Watch out!

I have some big news. This year has gone so well, we were able to buy a new home...our first!

July was down for me from June and vs last July also. That said, I sold 16.4% of my average daily listed inventory, well within the range I shoot for (call it 14-21%). Only March and June were higher, so in that regard July was pretty solid.

I expect August and especially September to be slow as I wrap up the 2025 yearly cycle and get prepared for 2026. I intend to use the slow time to do some experimentation with my inventory.
