Edge is gonna take Cody Rhodes old spot. You know, the spot Khan thought Punk would take, but forget that it's Punk.

Edge will spend his retirement feuding with Christian, elevating the guys within that feud, and then eventually team up with Christian for one last run; all while taking side movie/tv gigs. He'll make some bucks, elevate talent, be a nice guy, and be generally loved by everyone.

What a completely awful and horrible take!! How dare Edge/Adam spit in the face of the company that made him!! 25 years down the toilet, no loyalty, such a backstabbing traitor!! How dare he want to end his career with his best friend!

Did I do it right?

Didn't Danielson give the exact same reason for coming to AEW, that he did/accomplished pretty much all he could in WWE and looked forward to the plentiful new talent to work with for the 1st time?

I just don't understand the constant superiority complex...WWE is the best, AEW sux!! Nuh uh AEW is the best it's WWE that sux!!

There is plenty that both do thats both good AND bad...watch what you like

Never understood hate watching...just to complain about everything, or better yet not even watching said product AND still complaining about it lol

You did it right.

The way I look at it, WWE is where you go to be a star, AEW is where you go to be a wrestler. Edge has, no doubt, done an excellent job at being a star, but, as he has stated many times, he LOVES the art of pro wrestling. I absolutely see him going to AEW to put on 30 minute matches with young and upcoming players, and helping the sport of pro wrestling grow.

He would never have been able to do that in WWE.

Thing is I don't think Edge has the gas in the tank to put on a GOOD 30 minute match anymore.

Not sure I'm a fan that he's using the same exact entrance music. You want to move on at least change it up somewhat use a new entrance song.

Watched the Edge promo, love the guy, but that whole thing wasn't great. Came off really unnatural, definitely seemed like he wasn't comfortable without the Edge persona.

I guess I'm in the minority being happy that Edge is going to work with Christian one more time before hanging it up. I don't see it as chasing a paycheck, he and Christian grew up together and I'm sure he wants that last run with his lifelong friend.

Is he going to put on 5-star matches? Almost certainly not, but I'm here for the story they are going to tell. Also, his music is awesome and it wouldn't have felt right having him come out to something else.

Metalingus is an absolute banger. Listen to it in the car all the time.

I'm not gonna lie, if they do the full Brood entrance and music with all three of them, I might tear up a little.

where we drop f-bombs in promos, so edgy

Adam goes there to feud with Christian...........couldn't have been more.........predictable. The entire segment couldn't have been more.........predictable

I looked at all the AEW PPVs on Cagematch and besides the MJF/Danielson Iron Man match at Revolution and Ospreay/Omega at Forbidden Door, all other 2023 PPV matches were under 30 with most undercard PPV matches going 10-20, and a handful going 20-25 such as main events or multi-man like Stadium Stampede.

I think Edge definitely has enough in the tank to put on solid matches like that, especially since he won't be at the very top of the card.

And for him to work a program with Christian where Christian finally has a more prominent spot than Edge and then eventually reform as a tag team is gonna be awesome.

Yeah you want to ask him to go 10 minute match I think that's no issue. Maybe even 20 minutes if you would have a younger guy who could carry a lot of the load for him. Both I think would that way would turn out decent matches.

He can do 15 to 25 minutes with no problems. Come back and roast me later if that turns out to not be true.

If you don’t want to watch a program w Edge and Christian finally facing off as equals on a main event level I truly have to question why you even bother watching wrestling.

Yeah cause Edge and Punk are the same level lol

Can't wait to see Edge top merchandise sales cause that will surely happen like it did with Punk right?

What’s with the combative nature of this thread lately? He clearly just means he will take on a mentorship role helping other talent. A role CM Punk hate him or love him seemed to want to be in. So no that doesn’t mean he’s automatically gonna be as hot as Punk coming off a 8 year hiatus from wrestling.

yes every wrestling organization, just like all sports teams, need a veteran to be a good will ambassador. Edge is simply there to fill in the vacancy for fan interaction, occasional storylines and being an example to the less experiences guys before he, Sting and Bryan Danielson appear less and less on TV in the next year or two

As for the negativity you will see some members on the wrestling forum, whether for WWE or AEW, are here just to criticize and be tired of the organization they don't like and most likely don't regularly watch

You bring in Edge to bring him in towards the top no? If he's in that role as you suggest could happen it feels like a waste to me.

If I was booking Edge's AEW run:

Bring in Gangrel, reform the brood. Give them for a short Trios belt run. E & C both turn on Gangrel for losing. He leaves. Have E&C reform as heels. Tag Title run. One or the other turns face. Hopefully a decent length story run. Eventually leads to a PPV main event. Guessing Christian goes over, in a career match.

2 cents

Edge is on a higher level. Don't worry about the merch sale, it won't take long for you to see it.

Plus, as one mentioned, the adversarial tone is unneeded. Punk was brought in to be the veteran "mentor" that would work the ME and help bring midcard and upper midcard guys to that level. The problem was that Punk is a toxic human being.

Edge is a much better choice to fill that role, for more reasons than I can list.

Powerhouse Hobbs needs to be built into a top dominate heel. AEW needs to start pushing their young guys and not focus so much on the old guys at the end of their careers.
