Another Trade to close out the night:
Lyle gets Matthew Boyd and pick #12 in the MLB redraft. I get pick #10 in the MLB redraft. Essentially exchanging Boyd for a first round pick swap.

In terms of mangers, I think we have to replace Highroller this year. I don't want to judge too harshly since this season was weird, but he has been very inactive both this year and last now. He's the only one I think we need to replace at this point, but putting that out there

Hey Chris, can you do me a favor an update your IL and drop a few players to make space on your roster? Working on pushing the trades through this morning but you have a couple ineligible IL guys that need to be moved before I can

Sorry for the back and forth but it looks like you will need to drop 6 more for space for the other trades. Bunch of trades where you're getting more than you're sending lately

Yeah, think of it as the same as during the year, you get your 30 roster slots to work with. So if you have a full roster and then make a 1 for 3 deal, you'd need to drop 2 in order to make space. You can certainly make more trades, but have to keep a valid roster in between everything
Thanks, will process the rest of the trades now

It isn't that we can't process trades until keepers are in. It's just that we have to wait until ESPN updates their software for the next season. They don't have the capabilities right now to process off-season trades.

Digging through some of my historical trades for fun, here's a couple that were notable-
August 2017- Acquire Archer, Quintana in exchange for LeMahieu, Acuna, Mateo, Rodon OOPS. This was a win-now type move, and it sorta, kinda worked out as a finished 4th. But sure didn't help for very long as Archer and Quintana tanked shortly after, and I don't think I need to say anything more about the main 2 guys I traded away May 2018- Acquire Gary Sanchez, Tanner Roark in exchange for Bellinger, Gonsalves ![]() ![]() ![]() June 2018- Acquire Manny Machado, Michael Fulmer in exchange for Yelich, Manaea, Brandon Crawford, .........and Tatis Ok this exercise isn't being as fun as I thought it would be. Mom, I'm not having fun, come pick me up ![]() May 2019- Acquire Shane Bieber, Welker for Freeland, Shaw, Heyward Finally one that goes my way. Perfect timing on this one, right before Bieber exploded and Freeland tanked July 2019- Acquire Pivetta, Sixto Sanchez, Casey Mize for Cruz, Paxton Not a huge win for me at this point, but good return for a deadline sell and trying to get younger Well that was painful. My problem is I was on the borderline of a contender team for the first 2 years and I just made all the wrong moves while trying to push for a championship, and I did so too early. It's gotten better in the past 2 years now while I've been more patient, but man I sure did set myself back a few times

Ok, heres for a random post of the day
Best and worst picks 3 years later. Original 2017 draft results Round 30 Best: Travis D'Arnaud C - Highroller Worst: Clay Bucholtz - Clevland Browns Not much talent in the last round, but highroller got a person in a tough to fine position who was keeper worthy late in the draft. Round 29 Best: Matt Chapman - Clevland Browns Worst: Jamie Garcia - Extended Spring Training This round had a good amount of talent (hader, k.lewis, chapman, dom smith, profar) for round 29, long term talent was here. Round 28 Best: Wellington Castillo - Clevland Browns Worst: Jacoby Ellsbury - Niederman This round had some real weak picks. No major guys who had any real solid seasons since 2017. Chose Ellsbury because as a yankee fan - screw ellsbury. Round 27 Best: Hyun-Jin Ryu - Highroller Worst: Daniel Norris - Team silverandblack Highroller with a major part of his roster in this round. Norris while I understand the pick at the time just hasnt done much. Was quite a lot of picks for the worst and one obvious best in this round Round 26 Best: ehhh.... Collin Mchugh: H to the rizzo Worst: AJ reed: highroller Honestly, almost every pick was a miss in this round ong term Round 25 Best: Lance Lynn: Knuckleball Worst: Mickey Moniak: Niederman Moniak still has a chance, but considering would of pasted a roster spot for 3 years now not worth it. Jorge Soler by walking up with AL was a close runner up for best. Round 24 Best: Rafeal Devers: Kncukleball Worst: Alex Reyes: Cornerstore Worst pick for me, although he did help get me verlander as i traded him early. A lot of great value here. Conforto (silverandblack) Semien (whales) were real good choices for best Round 23 Best: Eloy Jimenez Clevland Browns Worst: Jose De Leon: Knuckleball This round had a good amount of talent. Moustakes i feel was a very good pick, WIlson Ramos was a solid catcher. Eloy given long term value and the fact he was so highly regarded as a prospect and now paying real good dividends was a solid pick for the browns Round 22 Best: Lucas Giolito Niederman Worst: Brandon Kintzer: Whales This round there really wasnt a bad pick. Albies for extended spring training, robles for cornerstore were 2 other good long term picks. Value was there accross the board Round 21 Best: Aaron Judge: Whales Worst: Keon Broxton: Silverandblack Wow rounds 21. I thought I locked up best seeing Bauer. However, Bauer, Judge, Severino (schwartz), Gleybor (walking up with al), and Didi (juicers) all were picked. Crazy round Round 20: Best: Jose Berrios: Niederman Worst: Alex Cobb: Waking up with AL This round had a lot of usable parts, and even Cobb had some value there really wasnt a pick that hasnt provided some value over the last few years. Round 19 Best: Austin Meadows: Cornerstore Worst: Shawn Kelley: Cornerstore I mean, yeah. A lot of good picks Tim Anderson (AL) would be best if roto, E-rod (juicers), and kepler (rizzo) were solid picks as well. Round 18 Best: Cody Bellinger - H to the rizzo Worst: Carlos Beltran - Silverandblack Another real good value round. Belligner obviously the best. Glasnow(Browns), Salvador Perez (whales), Josh Bell (knuckleball) offered good value, but not at bellinger level at all. Round 17 Best: Michael Brantley: Clevland Browns Worst: Greg Bird: Silvernablack Interesting round. nothing too crazy a lot of pieces that were good for only a year or two and are off rosters now. Interesting the way the tables went this round. Browns obviously went for the strat to get young talent to build for 2019-2020 and you can start to see it paying off for sure. Round 16 Best: Justin Turner: Extended spring training Worst: Yasmany Tomas: Juicers Grandal (corner), Snell (highroller) were close for best but turner took it here. A few big misses Matt More (rizzo) and Tomas really take the cake for losses this round Round 15 Best: Realmuto: Niederman Worst: Sam Dyson: Green Monsters Casteallnos (Al) was a close second to realmuto. A bunch of closers taken this round Round 14 Best: James Paxton: Juicers Worst: Tony Watson: Al Round 14 had some nice pitchers: Taillon, Paxton, Happ, and Bundy. But also had some options that really didnt do much otherwise Round 13 Best: Sonny gray: Al Worst: Matt Harvey: Browns This round had some great picks Baez (juicers), Ozuna (spring training), Manaea (rizzo). Almost every player has produced somewhat. Pujols if it were a non-points league would of likely been worst pick Round 12 Best: Michael Pineda: Schwartz Worst: Dustin Pedoria: Silverandblack Not much talent in this. Prob between Mccullers (waking up with al) and Pineda. Just going with total points thus far Round 13 Best: Dallas Keuchel: Schwartz Worst: Carlos Rodon: Rizzo Wilson Contrares (green monsters) was a close second for best Round 10 Best: Jose Ramirez (Green monsters) Worst: Chris Davis (Browns) Aaron Nola (h to the rizzo) was another great pick. I don't remember how I got Nola. I thought I honestly drafted him. Interesting to know that I traded for him at some point. Round 9 Best: Anthony Rendon (monsters) Worst: Danny Salazar (corner) Some solid picks here - but easily Rendon is the top spot. Round 8 Best: Lemahieu (rizzo) Worst: Jeurys Familia (whales) Some good picks - Price (browns), Moncada (knuckleball) would be potential bests. Kipnis pick made by me was a close second worst Round 7 Best: Gerrit Cole (highroller) Worst: Dee Gordon (silverandblack) Gordon only because of league type, didnt really help. Grenike (corner), was a option for best. But its Cole all day Round 6 Best: Alex Bregman (Niederman) Worst: Britton (corner) Dunno why I took a closer so early. Guess Jansen/Chapman taken right before forced my hand. Nelson Cruz (juicers) was a great pick thus far as well Round 5 Best: Jacob Degrom (monsters) Worst: Adrian Beltre (rizzo) Overall this round has pieces that were productive one year or another. Only knocking beltre since he only really had a year 1/2 of production from a early spot here. Round 4 Best: Justin Verlander (AL) Worst: Villar (silverandblack) Again, falling to league settings. Villar in a roto league would of been a average pick, but in points just hurts. Round 3 Best: Yelich (rizzo) Worst: Miguel Cabrera (monsters) Crazy to see how miggy has fallen in just a few short years. A lot of talent here and many still with the teams still. Round 2 Best: Freddie Freeman (corner) Worst: Jake Arrieta (silverandblack) I wanted to give Scherzer (whales) best, but freeman has just been such a great hitter and better future then max right now. Lindor (spring training) was also a great pick Round 1 Best: mike trout (Monsters) Worst: John Donaldson? (highroller) A lot of obviously good picks here, no real bad picks, bumgarner would be right now the worst, but had some outstanding seasons prior providing value. Maybe Kris Bryant worst over donaldson but is much younger. In any case, was a fun review of the first draft here

Taking a look back at some of my trades and FA/Prospect Blunders since the start of the league in 2017:
August 2017: Acquire Julio Teherán from FireRunner(aka Yanks) for Jameson Taillon and Franklin Barreto. At the time, I thought this was a solid deal giving me a young 26 year old SP to eat up some innings at the back end of my rotation. However, looking back Teheran has struggled w/ consistency and had a really bad 2020. The other pieces in the deal haven’t worked out either, with Taillon spending most of his time on the IL and Barreto not having broken out yet as a prospect. May 2018: Acquire Eduardo Rodriguez from bankdawg(aka Lyle) in exchange for Kyle Gibson. At the time, this was a solid trade for both teams with Gibson pitching extremely well and having a great 2018. This trade was more about longevity for my team and even though E-Rod did not play in 2020, he gives me quality depth in my rotation as the lone bright side in the Red Sox pitching staff. January 2020: Acquire Josh Bell and Lance McCullers Jr. from Lyle in exchange for Ryan McMahon, Jordan Yamamoto, and Danny Santana. Tough to evaluate this trade given the young pieces in this deal. Josh Bell had a disappointing 2020 and even though I won a ring this year, he spent most of time on my bench. McCullers was flipped in a deal later for Berrios and didn’t offer much significance in this deal at the time. McMahon,Yamamoto, and Danny Santana all had ok 2020 seasons, so will probably have to wait a little while before seeing who this deal favored most. January 2020: Acquire Jose Berrios, picks 23/45 in exchange for Corey Kluber, Lance McCullers, Gavin Lux, Hunter Dozier, Bobby Bradley, and picks 35/38. Again, tough to evaluate this trade as a majority of the pieces are very young. Kluber was a big bust this year getting injured early in the season and missing the whole year. Not quite sure what the picks ended up turning into, but don’t think they were make or break for either side. Berrios was decent this year, but consistency was again his issue. I would say his addition definitely strengthened my pitching, but had to rebuild the farm system after giving up Lux and Bradley. Best FA pickups/Prospect Selections: Juan Soto(MILB Draft 2017) Gavin Lux(MILB Draft) Brandon Lowe(2019) Dom Smith(2020) Wil Myers(2020) Framber Valdez(2020) Worst FA/Prospect Moves: Dropped Corbin Burnes after drafting him with high hopes in MILB Draft Dropped Sandy Alcantara after drafting him in MILB draft Drafted Lazaro Armenteros instead of Acuña in MILB Draft (this was a big one for me because I had both on my prospect big board and opted for the more risky selection).

Now looking back at everything I've done a few highlights I feel are worth pointing out
Most interesting trades I get Justin Verlander. I traded Alex Reyes, Brent Honeywell and Victor Robles. At the time, I was very reluctant to do the deal as I was really middle of the pack and all 3 were highly rated. Robles was touted as the next starling marte. Honeywell had a crazy k/bb Ratio and Reyes looked dominant. I'm honestly surprised on how little the 3 I gave up have produced and feel bad somewhat. Verlander has helped guide me to two titles so I can't complain about that aspect. Trading Nomar Mazara for Yoan Moncada. Both were similarly ranked at the time, I just wanted my 2b for the future (which he moved to 3b) and I was real stacked in OF. This one just again luck of the draw in my favor. Trading Zach Grienke for Aaron Nola. I honestly forgot about this trade. Grienke was performing great but I wanted a young ace. I think i tried to get Carlos Rodon at the time but that was a no go so went for Nola. Both have played great, and I was able to get Grienke later again so that was interesting. Trading Kolby Allard for Josh Duplanter. I liked Allard but was worried he would get lost in ATL vast SP. I really liked Duplanters tools and Manning was more of a throw in. Manning was a major piece that I moved down the line 2019 Trading Lance McCullers for Zach Grienke, Miles Mikolas and Carlos Santana. Getting Grienke back was big and Carlos Santana has been steady. With McCullers fully healthy now though, this trade may take a turn soon. I also traded Jose Abreu and Yoan Moncada at some point but couldnt find those deals. So oh well. Top FA adds 2020 - Mike Yastremszki - Traded for Max Muncy filling my 2b need for hte most part 2019 - Liam Hendricks - been my best RP for some time now Best Minor league pickups 2017 Kyle Tucker Round 2 - Gave up on him way too early. But looking back was a great pick Royce Lewis round 7 - Again guy I moved and think he could still be a real good player in 2021. Ian Anderson round 9 - Just got lucky there Chris Paddack Midseason 2018 - He was dropped. I picked him up. That worked out. Worst Minor league moves. Theres a lot but heres a few because I was debating between 1/2 players 2019 - Jazz Chisholm over Nate Pearson. I really wanted Lux who went a pick before. Chisolm had some crazy heilum at the time. I really liked Pearson as well, but went with the guy with more hype. 2018 - Jonathan India over Alec Bohm. Coin flip and I was wrong. 2017 - Nick Williams. I wanted a toolsy OF and there were 4 that I had on my list (williams was 3rd). Who were the 3 ofs drafted before williams. Well, thank you for asking. It was Jo Adell (#1 on the list), Juan Soto (#4) and Ronald Acuna (#3). Part of me was happy as I just got one of them at the time.... at the time. To be fair I wouldnt of drafted Soto over Williams, but if Acuna or Adell fell - that would of been nice.
