Lindor is working his way into the NL MVP picture.
I'd still put Ohtani a ways ahead with the 40/40 season but Lindor has him by .2 in fWAR (.7 behind in bWAR).
Another problem is Lindor is still hitting .269. I know batting avg aint what it used to be but Ohtani himself is the only player to win an MVP hitting below .270 - 2cnd is Maris's .270 in '61.
I'd think Lindor needs a 1 WAR lead at the finish to be 30/30+ get well above .270 and maybe thhelp the Mets sneak into the playoffs - or if Ohtani gets hurt or something. Lindor had made a conversation of it. And I'd guess there are voters will ding Ohtani for DH and maybe even a few who might ding him for the preseason gambling drama.

It wouldn't surprise me. He's at 147 innings, and he hasn't pitched more than that since 2018.

Judge is coming for the triple crown. Only 13 point separating him and Bobby.

Another very impressive day

55 homers before September? He's got a week to do it.

Lindor will likely lead the NL in fwar, but to even be considered the Mets need to make the playoffs and even then his offensive numbers are so far behind Ohtani. Defense makes it way into war calcs, but mvps usually go to whoever has the best offensive stats.

Just when I think Judge will slow down, he does the opposite. He truly is a mind-blowing player and one I feel like I have not fully given credit to before this year.

I think this year really cements his legacy. He does it once, ok its a career year. Stanton hit 59 one year after all. Now that Judge has done this a second time, he really enters a whole new tier.

Sale is slated to start game 3 of the Minnesota series and miss the Philly series.

His last start he gave up two runs. This is how it happened. Slow chopper down the third base line with Urshela playing deep. Followed by a weakly hit ground rule double where Soler, still nursing his hamstring, jogged over and literally pulled up and watched it fit well in fair territory. Followed by a pitch he put off the plate outside that the hitter was able to poke into left center. He pitched better than what the stat line suggested.

Ohtani has been carrying the Dodgers this season.

Lindor has been a nice story but he' splaying for a volatile franchise that just can't find its way.

Um, he was also a top tier starting pitcher that year.

So no on Lindor because of the franchise he plays for. One of the most hilarious narratives yet!

Judge and Witt are having some monster seasons, sucks to know that one of them (right now, Witt) won't win MVP.

Judge sucks at defense, Witt should win.

Anyone could have robbed that home run and turned it into a double play.

I'm just arguing that the likes of Ohtani, Marte, and Ozuna have done/meant more for their respected teams all year then Lindor.

It's most valuable player. The three above have carried their teams more than Lindor all season.

The Mets are 3 games behind the Braves for the last wild card spot. Where would they be without Lindor's offense and defense?

If team record meant anything anymore, Mike Trout would only have 1 MVP instead of 3.

Honest question - Are the Braves minus Ozuna that much better than the Mets without Lindor this season?

Ozuna has carried the team this year after losing Acuna, Albies, Riley, etc. The team has played well this months all things considered.

Again, the Mets have never taken off this season really. This isn't due to critical injuries within the batting order, just lack of urgency and likely leadership at times.
