Was very curious to see what Skenes would sell for as planning to buy a lot. His blue sold for over 500 so now will have to see how much they come down.

Very hard to come up with comps since there hasn’t been an equally hyped pitcher since Maybee Strasburg/prior. Maybee seeing what multiplier stras sold for vs any other pitcher would be a start.

Not really sure top of market for pitchers now with painter hurt but a blue Horton psa 10 is sub $200 (bonus color Match). Likewise Kyle harrison is a sub $100 card so you are basically looking at a 3-4x markup from any other pitching prospect in baseball.

An 8.5 blue gerrit cole also sold for sub $200

That’s definitely way high. Where do you think Langford’s base chrome and refractor settle at in two to four weeks?

Probably comparable to Holiday at this time last year. Chrome around $10-12 and refractor around $35-40.

Was this tied to the Fanatics premier show or something else? Regardless if people are pulling Brady already then before the product is out to the public then yeah that #@#@#@#@ was planted .

Also as someone mentioned on NEO Cards You tube, if people are pulling these big cards before the public hits it then you are have already killed the box prices before it started. I mean you could argue you are a moron for paying the prices to begin with but now knowing some of the big hitters were already pulled.

I don’t think it was tied to fanatics.

I thought this was interesting - and definitely lends credence to sitting out Draft in 2023. I realize using one player can be faulty - but it sure looks like singles will continue their descent while wax skyrockets. To wit:

2022 Draft. Jackson Holliday and Druw Jones largely considered a coin flip to go 1/2. Holliday nabbed first, was argued the O's did this because Jones refused to sign for under slot. Holliday has a solid but unspectacular first half season in pro ball, showed a great eye of the zone but also the power concerns pre-draft were justified. 2022 Bowman Draft releases at $3,200 per jumbo case, it includes 23 of the first 30 picks and 13 of the first 15. Jackson's 100 case slot sold for $33,625. Base autos around $400 at the jump.

2023 Draft. Wyatt Langford considered in the mix with Skenes and Crews to be the top pick. Ultimately goes fourth. Has a monstrous pro debut, flashes all five tools. Hard to find any fault in his game, will enter camp with a chance to earn a big league starting spot. 2023 Bowman Draft releases at $4,300 per jumbo case, it includes 20 of the top 30 picks and 10 of the first 15. Langford's 100 case slot sole for $28,800. He has had a base auto sitting on eBay for under $400 that has not been touched.

This isn't a current knock on Holliday at all, nor an overhype attempt for LAngford. Just an apples-to-apples comp of the "best" guy in each product. And in summary, for a worse checklist, we have to pay 30+% more to open a product that will yield 15% less in return?! Repeating my first paragraph - I know one guy is not the whole story...but it sure does make you think...

Some high level photoshop work on the Skenes and Noble Meyer cards. Jersey logos look awesome. Definitely justifies the $500/box investment.

Also check the Luke Keaschell and Roc Riggio. Loooool

So, Fanatics planted good cards to drive interest only to kill that interest by having these cards pulled before release.

Yeah this is a stupid thing to think but if you want to throw you tin toil hat on:

1. The pre-orders have already been done on the boxes and already paid for. Fanatics got the money so if it is sitting on shows and dealers collecting dust because the bounty cards were pulled then oh well
2. We all know how Fanatics love the attention and hype.

I guess it depends on whether there is anything else in this set that people are going to chase other than Brady

Those odds have to be astronomical, assuming the inscriptions are limited to the 12/xx cards. The odds of hitting a brady insert non auto are incredibly difficult. Really going to be curious to see what they go for as singles not just post hype release but long term. Not a Traditional Brady or Bowman card but the very difficult odds and "one-off" appeal might keep the prices high for the long haul?

The “one off” novelties always fade off with time.

Newbies will learn this soon enough.

Eh idk about soon enough, plenty of people that have been around quite some time that still buy into the hype. Human nature can be very predictable!

Ok so I was wayyy off. The base Tom Brady is at $600 with more than a day left. Assuming it gets paid that is crazy.

I try so hard to fight off the thoughts that there is a conspiracy going on with breakers and loaded boxes, but what are the chances here?

I'm sure each of the Fanatics livestream breakers will hit a few auto's and /numbered.

Have to be able market the product enough and still leave some crumbs for the minions to chase.

Anecdotal of course but haven’t seen much of Langford in either the jumbos or HTAs.

If you’re wanting a specific player, your best choice is to buy them as individual cards on eBay or at a show. Lotta players to go through with this product.

Pouring one out for the days of yore when I'd have two Jumbo + two hobby cases of this to rip in blissful joy.
