Just for giggles I checked to see who has more defensive WAR this year. It is Alek Thomas, of course.

Yea, it's real simple to see when you actually watch them that Thomas is the superior fielder. Corbin just has better wheels and (eventually) will probably be a better fielder when he puts it all together. Corbin, like Trout is never going to have the arm strength though. I'd keep Corbin in a corner and have him do his thing at the plate. Either Thomas (or eventually Jones etc) can take center.

Thomas is on the bench because he's 1 for 31 against lefties with only 1 walk and 14 K's. Carroll on the other hand seems to have focused A LOT on improving against lefties as he's actually batting higher against them (.333 vs LHP; .277 vs RHP) so far this season. He'll most likely have the BA come down against LHP slowly but it has been massively impressive to already see the adjustments he's made in such a short amount of time. I would also definitely expect to see his BA against RHP go much higher going forward.

Overall, he's been in a small slump, had pretty bad luck and a pretty tight strike zone from umps early on and is STILL putting up a .294/.364/.877 with 10 SBs. Most importantly DBacks are 2nd in the West and he has been a very big part of it. KD even chose to wear his jersey to a DBacks game

Not sure where you're getting negative defense at. He's been stellar defensively. It's his awful hitting that's the problem.

"Just". Part of being an OFer is getting to balls. That's why Corbin is 65th percentile OAA this year and Thomas is 39th. Corbin is 90th percentile outfield jump and Thomas is 63rd.

With Corbin now occupying the 3rd spot in the order most of the time, his counting numbers are going up big time. The sky is the limit

ROY odds down to 2:1, pretty much even with Outman. I think the odds are finally not good for Carroll. I liked him when he was 4:1 a couple of weeks ago, but I don't think much has changed since then.

Perusing the list, I think Vargas at 25:1 is a solid play and I love, love, love, Francisco Alvarez at 50:1. In fact that's almost enough for me to sign up for a sports betting account. Not quite, but close.

Right when the season started I put a little down on Corbin +400. I read your post and thought, why not...I'll throw a few bucks at Alvarez +5000. So I did.

One thing going unnoticed this year is his big increase in plate discipline. Walks up and K % down significantly
