As far as ideas for your collection, grabbing jersey #'d cards was always a fun chase back when I was more of a player collector.

Jersey numbered additions are something I’ve worked on more in the last 6 years as other wants have dried up. Just recently added a big one, the 98-99 skybox star rubies 9/50. Also have the 98-99 pMG 9/50 and 98-99 fleer brilliants 24kt gold 9/24. Definitely a nice way to “upgrade” my collection to make it more unique

2023 Recap

The last 2 years have been great years for my PC! Last year I posted by top 10 pick ups to IG, but then forgot to update this thread. I feel like the forums are starting to come back to what it was before the 2020 bubble, and wanted to make sure to update this year.

This year I added 74 additional cards to the Harper PC, including a few firsts for the PC. I spent a lot of time organizing my collection physically and electronically. I upgraded my Excel spreadsheet and logged a ton of cards into TCDB. I wanted to be more active on IG, but posted very little there this year. Maybe next year.

I want to do a Top 25 pick-ups this year. Posts incoming...

25) 2014-15 Panini Flawless Patches Emerald /5
I have the rainbows for all of Harper's Flawless releases (he has been in 5 so far). For the Flawless patch cards I have a bit of a hoard. This was card #18 from the 2014-15 run, out of a total of #36 (/1, /5, /10, /20). So now I officially have half the cards from 2014-15 Flawless for Harper. I am working on a project where I take the patches and use photoshop to try to piece together patches in a puzzle to see where and how much of a jersey I can put together. This year, I was only able to add one new Flawless patch, but it was a good one!

24) 2021-22 Panini Obsidian Aurora Autographs Electric Etch Yellow 9/10 (Jersey Numbered)
This was Harper's first inclusion in Obsidian. This is from a 7 card rainbow (base, purple, orange, green, yellow, red, and white). I'm still missing the red /5, and white 1/1, so if anyone sees these please reach out to let me know! The red /5 is one of only 8 non 1/1 cards I need from after he retired (2007 through 2023). I am so close to having 20% of his Bulls jersey numbered cards now... currently at 19.7%. Just one more will push me over the threshold!




23) 2021-22 Panini Select In Flight Signatures Gold Prizm 4/10 (Jersey Numbered)
I ended up picking up three of this card this year. First was the to get A copy for the PC. Then 2 months later I saw a high grade SGC version that looked really cool with the black case. Then 2 months later the jersey numbered one popped up. I am still looking for the two 1/1 for this year and last year for this set. I have never seen either black or black mosaic. Hit me up if you see any out there!!





22) 2021-22 Panini Court Kings Holding Court Signatures Pink /8
I love Court Kings! For Panini products it is up there with Flawless as the best releases for me. Pink is the penultimate one I need for this rainbow. I was able to land the base 4/75, Violet 4/35, Sapphire 4/25, and unnumbered Jade over the last few years. Still looking for the masterpiece and the jersey numbered pink parallel for the jersey numbered rainbow!

I just sent this one to BGS to be graded for my Player Registry.



21) 2019-20 Panini Illusions Trophy Collection Signatures Orange #1 10/10 --> w/ completed rainbow!
This card took me about 3 years to find, which is a bit of an outlier for a card /10 from this era. The oranges are a retail only release, which makes them harder to find. I think a lot of more casual or younger collectors are breaking these packs and there isn't the same drive to put them up for sale on eBay in those situations. Glad to finally complete this rainbow. Still looking for the 20-21 Illusions orange parallel for Harper to complete that rainbow.

20) 2021 Topps Finest Red Refractor Autograph /5
Harper never had any serial numbered Finest cards when Topps had the license.
I only have 5 non 1/1 cards left on my wantlist from the last 10 years. Three of those are from this set (base red refractor /5, base white refractor /10, and base black refractor /15). The only other 2 I need were both mentioned in the above post. This set seems to have a cult following. A lot of people either hate or love it. Not having the NBA license was a huge negative for me when it came out, and I missed out on the 1/1 for that reason. I have never seen a copy of those other 3 for sale though. Still searching.



19) 2020-21 Panini Flawless Momentous Autographs Printing Plates Cyan 1/1
I already have the rainbow for the Flawless Momentous Autographs set, so now I want to complete the print set as well. I am down to only needing the Magenta plate for this set now. Harper only has about 80 printing plates TOTAL, which is pretty low compared to others in the same number of products he has been in. I feel like a lot of people don't really value plates, but I am definitely hunting them if you ever come across one!!



18 & 17) 2020-21 Panini Flawless Legendary Scripts Printing Plates
Same as above, I have the full rainbow for the cards and would love to complete this plate set. Still looking for the black and cyan plates.

It's probably just random, but for some reason I have 65% of Harper's yellow plates and only 30% of his black plates. Both cyan and magenta are at 40%. Yellow is the color that seems to pop the least...





16) 2020-21 Panini Flawless Legendary Scripts Gold /10
This was the last one I needed for the rainbow. Always weird when you knock out the 1/1 early and then seem to have to wait another year to complete the rainbow.

15) 2020-21 Panini Flawless Legendary Scripts Emerald /5
These Flawless autos were selling for much higher than I was expecting. It was the first year Harper had a non-patch auto in Flawless and I figured the price point would be similar to other non-flawless autos to similar print run. Apparently, these are much more sought after because auctions were going for about 50-100% higher than I expected. Missed a few but finally landed one.



14) 2020-21 Panini Flawless Legendary Scripts Amethyst /3
My 3rd consecutive card from this print run in this write up and final card. I love the purple foil and like the /3 print run for these better than when Panini was using it for the /20. It looks so much like royalty! This completes my 5th Flawless rainbow. Just looking for the plates now.







13) 2015-16 Panini National Treasures Night Moves Printing Plate Yellow 1/1
Harper only has 20 cards with plates (80 plates total). Despite the fact that I have about 44% of all his plates, I only had one complete set until this addition. I got this as part of a lot from a previous Ron Harper collector in France along with 4 other plates. For the year I added 8 plates, which is 10% of the total out there. I'm quite happy with that progress!! Another unique aspect of this card is it shows Harper with his captains patch. There are not a ton of cards of him from the 92-93 season in Panini era that show this patch. I also think one of the patches I picked up of this card may have the captain patch in it!! Thanks again to WaxMuseum for the heads up on the captain patch card!







12 & 11) 2012-13 Panini Gold Standard Black Gold Threads Printing Plates Magenta and Yellow 1/1s
Also in the deal mentioned above, I added these 2 old printing plates from over a decade ago. Now I am down to just needing the black plate! I've never seen it... When I was just getting back into collecting in 2013 the cyan plate was my second 1/1 of Harper. I didn't have any 1/1 cards at that time so this was very exciting to me. So while these may seem like a minor pick up to most people, it brings me a lot of nostalgia from we I first got back on the scene.

10) 2012-13 Panini Totally Certified Autographs Printing Plate Cyan 1/1
My very first 1/1 in my Harper collection back in 2013 was the magenta plate from this set. I was working on a deal with ScotCards (previous Ron Harper collector) and we were a bit apart. I asked for this card in addition and we were able to get the deal done. Then we were able to expand it a bit further for an additional 4 plates (3 above plus one below). To get six 1/1 cards or plates in a single deal made for a pretty exciting mail day! I'm still in search of the black and yellow plates, as well as the black 1/1 card.



9) 2012-13 Panini Preferred Silhouettes Printing Plates Cyan 1/1
The final plate in the Scot deal. Such an iconic set and the only year Harper was included. I did not have a single plate from this run yet, so nice to get started on it. I've never seen the black, magenta, or yellow. Bulls plates seem harder to find than the rest. There are 2 sets of plates I have never seen a single one of, and they are both Bulls cards. 2012-13 NT Champion signatures trio and quad... Anyone ever see any plates from these sets of any player/team???





8) 2008-09 Upper Deck Lineage Buybacks B133 4/10
Harper only has 3 buyback cards. This is the first. He also did not have any serial numbered cards during his playing days in a Clippers uniform, making this the very first Clippers Jersey Numbered card available. I also have the 1992-93 Upper Deck Buyback B258 4/5. I would really like to find the 1992-93 Upper Deck Buyback B495 (Game Faces) 4/10 to complete the set of jersey numbered cards.




7) 2021-22 Panini Mosaic Autographs Mosaic Black 1/1
In 2023, Harper only had one release (that I am aware of). It was his first inclusion in Mosaic. While I am not a huge Mosaic fan, it is always nice to have Harper included in a set at least once, to have some variety to the PC. I was able to complete the rainbow this year, which meant that all my other pick ups just improved my percent completions for everything. Rainbow includes base, red/gold, gold /10, black gold /8, and black /1. I only wish I would have been able to land the gold 9/10. It is on the Taiwan Yahoo site but sold before I could find someone to grab it for me. Hopefully it pops up on eBay in the future.






6) 2021-22 Panini Prizm Fast Break Autographs Black 1/1
I landed this one on CardHobby. Weird scenario, as much on CardHobby is. I tried to bid via the website from my phone but the time ran out early and it never registered my bid and I lost. Started using the App after that and have not had an issue with that since. Saw the winner post the card on IG and he said he was not interested in selling it. Then about 4 months later it was back up for sale on CardHobby. Was able to win it for less than I would have paid the seller direct?? Also completed a small rainbow (base, gold /10, black /1)! Not able to get a rainbow pic right now due to sending the card into BGS to be graded.

The top 5 was tough. Really tough. In any other year any of these could have been by #1 pick up...

5) 2007-08 Upper Deck Chronology The Five /10
On the 2nd day of 2023, this card popped up on eBay. The card had more than doubled in price over the last 5 years due to Lebron autograph market and Chronology popularity. It was overpriced but I was afraid if I did not snag it now, it may be completely out of my price range in the future. Harper played with Jordan, Kobe, and Shaq, but did not have combined autos with any of them. This is the only combined auto with LeBron.



4) 1998-99 Skybox Star Rubies 9/50
This was locked up in the PC of Nat Turner. He was collecting the set, and I reached out to him to see if he would do a trade. We agreed on a good deal after a short conversation. I didn't have a ton of trade options, but luckily what I had he was willing to accept! Thanks again Nat!!



3) 2000-01 Topps Chrome Refractor Final Piece 4/10
I was looking at my FB messenger app this July and noticed I had an unreceived message from someone a month earlier. Because they were not my friend it was sent to some purgatory waiting room. So I open the message completely expecting it to be a /99 panini auto and see the JERSEY NUMBERED finals piece chrome refractor, which has to be a top 10 card from his playing career. Definitely the best Lakers card of his ever made. Anyway, the seller had history in Dayton and Chicago and had some personal encounters with Harper. He picked up this card years ago and noticed my collection on FB and reached out to see if we could come to a deal.





2) 2012-13 Panini Preferred Chicago Memorabilia Laundry Tags 1/1
This was the main piece of the deal I had with ScotCards. This is the only Chicago Bulls tag card for Harper and shows the Bulls logo. It also is a 1/1 of some of my other all time favorite Bulls (Joakim Noah, Toni Kukoc, and Luol Deng). Also completes my rainbow. This is definitely the most I have paid for any card in my PC, but Scot and I have had discussions for years about me acquiring a lot of his cards and I knew there would be a premium to get him to be open to a deal. I'm hopeful this accelerates my ability to pick up some more gems from him. He has at least 9 additional cards that I need for my PC, which is about 10% of the remaining cards I need, including at least 5 more 1/1 cards.






1) 2020-21 Panini Immaculate Logoman Autographs 1/1
So I spoiled the thread by my excitement earlier in the year by updating this thread with the last pick up. This is my first Logoman for my PC. For the longest time I felt a bit poser like, calling myself a super collector. I didn't have a logoman or a 90's 1/1 card. Over the last year and a half, I was able to check both these boxes. I know "super collector" is a controversial term/topic. I don't judge anyone else's PC or use of the term, but I have always been very critical of my own collection given the player status and total number of cards produced. I finally feel comfortable calling myself a super collector now!

Although there are 2 more logoman I would really love to add... If anyone has some trade bait that an Immaculate multi-auto / Logoman collector would be interested in, Cheken has a Gala Harper Logoman I'd love to try to acquire this year.

I wanted to share a fast approaching milestone!

About 7-8 years ago, one of my main goals of collecting Harper was to be considered his Super Collector. I know this is a controversial topic in terms of definition and utility, but I grew up seeing these impressive collections in Beckett as a kid and being so impressed. I also really like setting goals in general, something to work toward motivates me to keep searching!

So back then, I decided my definition of a super collector of a middling player with 500-1000 cards was owning:
- 95% of their non 1/1 cards
- 90% of their auto cards
- 90% of their memorabilia cards
- 33% of their 1/1 cards and plates
- 25% graded (I use the BGS player registry)
- 25% jersey numbered

I did some math today. Harper currently has 909 unique cards by my count. My current percentages are:
- 98.2% of his non 1/1 cards
- 91.4% of his auto cards
- 89.3% of his memorabilia cards
- 50.4% of his 1/1 cards and plates
- 26.4% graded (I use the BGS player registry)
- 28.9% jersey numbered

Of all his cards, I'm at 90.7%. I only need 12 non-1/1 cards (that I am aware of).

Sooo... If you have one of the jersey cards I still need and want to see me meet my arbitrary self definition of a super collector, please let me know!! Adding one more card gets me over the hump!
