Last couple of Trout sales had been around $1-1.1k, but then 1 sold for $2.2k (!!) on Goldin last week, so I'm trying to strike while the iron is still hot if in fact the Goldin sale was inflated by a bidding war. Lol The 88 Griffey's pretty solid at $1k, but not the most liquid card and I really need to find a Griffey collector to get that value.

Being able to pick up 2018 Ohtani's without having to give up any Ohtani's is always a plus. Still on the hunt for a licensed on-card rookie auto, but that is obviously much harder, even dangling my 50/50 orange relic auto as a return.

I mean.. I did bid a few times... but I think I was out before it qualified as a "war" lol.

Beautiful orders popping from the great PSA recently. Wonderful one today full of 2017s, 2018s, 2025s, all in expectedly top grades.

Tried to tell a friend of mine how hot the Ohtani market has been getting. His respone "didn't he have a bad world series and only had that one good game."

This is a smart fella, engineer working for a Mag 7 company. A complete data nerd. Some people just don't get "it"

That one game where he reached three more times than anyone else in any game of the 120 year history of the World Series. On the heals of a WS clinching game where he homered thrice and struck out 10. Oh and they won the WS. But other than that.

I am finding it hard to find anything of any value based on current prices. Demand has shot way up and I only see it going up over time. My collecting has basically stopped this off season. There have been a few random cards I missed out on Ebay.

Here is my latest pick up. These blue variations can be had for a relative good price considering the print run is about 600. Last two on Ebay sold for $75 and $110.

I was buying a bunch of the Ohtani 2023 Topps All Aces when they released because I thought it was one of the best inserts. Have some base, blue and black. Just checked prices. Yeeesh.

Woah, I just checked and base are selling for $90 now??? I bought 3 of these for my topload binder back in 2023 because I thought it looked cool. Seriously considering selling two of them now.

I sent some very low end raw Ohtani 2018 RC and inserts to COMC (around 50). Going to sell during spring training and buy 1 Ohtani RC with the proceeds. Will be interesting to where prices will be during spring training.

The unlicensed RC's I guess have some clout building/holding now.

I sold my 2018 Triple Threads White Whale in the latest Goldin elite auction. In the same auction was a 2018 comparable plate auto/relic from NT, so I kept tabs on both! I was curious how they'd compare in the end.

My thinking was...

2018 Triple Theads
Pros: Licensed (Topps), PSA 9, White Whale (in a world were plates kinda stink)
Cons: 2-color relic, sticker auto

2018 National Treasures
Pros: Nice patch pieces, on-card auto, NT brand recognition
Cons: SGC Authentic, unlicensed (Panini)

Mine entered extended bidding at 11K, the NT entered at 4.35K

Mine hammered at 11K with no additional bids during extended time, the NT got extended bids for another 2.5 hours and hammered at 12K!!

I won't say disappointed is the word... but definitely surprised, if not shocked. I had no real expectations what mine would do, but I wouldn't have ever believed a comparable pajama card would beat out a similar licensed counterpart... but it did!

For the record: I'm by no means complaining. Just sharing an observation and some thoughts. At the end of the day, I'm very, very pleased with what my card sold for. No regrets!

The last Goldin elite was very weak. Did not have the typical extended push we see. I suspect a lot of people were out of pocket/travelling just a few days after new year. Not the best auction wave.

That said, a lot of people crossing over from basketball like the flawless/NT stuff. I suspect if it was something like diamond kings, it wouldn't have fared as well.

I've been following pajama cards with ohtani for years now. They've always been strong, and not just NT and Flawless. The optic brand and stuff from chronicles are very popular and strong sellers.

Nice! I saw that one go for a decent price the other week. One way to get a legit rookie auto for a 2019 price
