Trade for Crochet and Robert. Whatever they want without Schmidt/Gill/Wells/Dominguez.

Sign Walker,Fried and Scott.

Figure out 2B/3B

Thats a team that can be dangerous and still spent less than Soto with much smaller commitments length and value of contractwise.

In what world is Soto worth more than Ohtani? Oh, Cohen's world. The Yankees got saved a huge contract until the man was 42 years old. Now, Hal better unleash Cashman on a real spending spree to fill the gaps and move Judge back to right and Dominguez in center.

Key words. Former, and still trying to prove himself. There is no consistency with Cody and you never know when he's going to be out of the line up. 5-6 years ago I would have been all over it. But what has he done the past 5-6 years ('23 was good but then he plummeted again in '24) to make you think he's going to succeed in NY? Nothing.

Jasson will fill CF and C. Walker is a MUCH better option at first.

I want to see the ROI plan for this. No way they make their money back. Even if he took that $760 from the Yanks, I would've had questions, albeit happy. Holy moly... what now?
Exactly. Soto is not going to bring a whole nation of fans into your stadium and buying merchandise like Ohtani does. I'm not sure 100 fans become Mets fans because of Soto. He'll probably see a bump in jersey sales for a year and that's it. This is all about trying to buy a World Series win and become the relevant New York team and how has that worked out for Cohen so far? Their pitching got destroyed by the Dodgers in the playoffs.

I don't want to sound like a sore loser but I still don't think the Mets are good enough to win their division next year. With that said, I don't think they're done, though.

Yes, I am intrigued with them possibly signing Santander. Dude always kills me in MLB The Show. Seems to have developed decent pwoer and with the Orioles bringing in the fences, he may have some more home runs in him.

I said it a couple weeks ago. At this type of $$$ I'm glad he's not a Yankee. For $765, 000,00 you get a great bat, avg (at best) base running, and defense that can cost you a game. Think of all the holes that money can be used to fill. He's simply not worth that type of $$$.

Switch C. Walker for Alsonso at first, then sign 2 major arms for the pitching staff, and we're good to go.

I just don't like the idea of committing possibly 5 years to a 34 yo Walker who's only been good the last 3 years.

I'd rather take the risk with 1-2 years of Belli in Yankee Stadium and see what happens. Plus, he was still an above average hitter playing in a pitcher friendly ballpark where RF foul poll is 353ft. I just don't see the downside.

And I'll ask again... who plays LF?

Yeah, I don't think I'd want Alonso on this team either. An upgrade at third would be nice and move Chisholm back to 2nd. And DJ has got to go and maybe either Cortes or Stroman or both.

And Santander . As long as he works on that .308 OBP.

How would we feel about an Arenado trade?

Hard pass unless it came at a deep discount. Has become an average hitter that hasn't hit an oppo HR since 2019. Unless he reinvents himself, it will only decline further and be stuck with him for 3 years.

I's consider it only if it didn't cost any major talent. He's another one that scares me in regards to his ability to succeed in NY.

Who ever plays 3rd will just hold the position until Gunnar Henderson becomes a FA. This is all just wishful thinking of course.

Plus he'd have to switch from SS to third but I don't see that as an issue.

I don’t think he’ll cost any talent whatsoever and if he’s batting 7th with a good glove and good locker room presence maybe. If we add real talent he could be a winning piece as long as expectations are in check

The Orioles will be dumb not to lock him up soon. And he already could have been playing SS for the Yankees.

The back issues concern me quite a bit with him meaning he would likely end up at DH at some point which is already filled by Stanton and part-time Judge.

From what I've read the Yanks matched the Mets money number, but with one more year, lowering the AAV. To me that says being a Yankee really wasn't all that important to Soto. It comes across as an ego/$$$ driven choice. Not a desire to win. I don't blame Hal at all.

So was Lebron James. Look at how fans reacted to that. And that's not me saying it's right. It's just the way some, or a lot, of idiots react. I'm all for making his life miserable when he comes to Yankee Stadium. As long as it doesn't cross the line. But that's about it.

So how many days go by without the Yankees making a signing? I'm going with Wednesday as being the day they sign someone.
