The gap between the top few teams and the bottom few teams making the playoffs is an absolute joke. It’s as bad as the top of the NBA conference and the play-in teams.

7 teams per conference works well in the NFL’s 16 teams conferences (although I think the 6 team format was much, much better but hey I guess they needed the money).

I don’t think it would work as well with college’s 130 teams spread out among 10 conferences (plus independent Notre Dane).
