I don’t collect Ohtani & Judge. Ohtani cards were very high when he first arrived and I thought Judge was too old for a rookie at the time, which is why I didn’t go in on him when he came out.

At this moment, I like Soto more than Trout.

I also bought in early on Luka Doncic. I didn’t like that he went to the Lakers, so I sold high on him after he was traded to buy my 2001 Ichiro Chirography Auto /100 card.

Don’t get me wrong though.. I’ve made mistakes before. I went all in on Kris Bryant and I got burned on him. Haha.

seanrs1...you win some, you lose some...key is to win more than you lose. You may have got off to a bad start holding some heavy bags (often time mistakes are good lessons if one chooses to learn from them). Learn from those losses and get more wins.

Thanks for the advice! I have learned from my mistakes. If you take a look at my signature line, I have lost on every player I have collected (mainly because I bought high during covid and was also very unlikely) except Ohtani. If Ohtani RC cards double in value over time I might break even one day.

Either way, I have had fun collecting. Right now I am not really buying any more, unless I find a good deal on Ohtani stuff.

In my opinion Ohtani and Judge are the only players I am confident that will move the needle going forward. Unfortunately, I don't have that many Judge cards.

Agree 100%. I get that is why a lot of collectors take profits while they can on cards to fund other cards. In general buying cards is a big gamble.

Speaking from experience, it can be liberating to liquidate cards that you're way underwater on. If those players and/or the cards don't do it for you anymore, selling them off lets you move on from them mentally. Who cares if you only get back a fraction of what you paid, your investment in them is a sunk cost.

As for "it is just not worth my time", send them all to DCSportsCards87, to run at $0.99 auctions.

dcsportscards is much better for lower end raw cards. I'm not sure if MC Sportscards accepts low end for consignment.

I sold the only biggish Soto card I had a few weeks ago (Heritage black ref RC)
I'm not a fan of his, but I want him to get it back. Baseball as a whole is better when he's good and being a total douche.
