very nice - how's the stress level doing that?

But when coupled with rising inflation; we're getting dangerously close to a generational wipeout of wealth for those at retirement age.

Excellent credit mortgage rate at 5.5% today; average rate closer to 6.125%. This has to stop ASAP.
People at retirement should not be exposed to risks.
With rates getting higher and higher they can have income like the good ole days.

Rates need to go higher and people need to be taught a lesson.

Rates go down = assets go up
Rates go up = assets go down

Don't make it anymore complicated.

By the time rates get high; there will be little left.

And the lesson you believe needs to be taugh, in fact, needs to be taught. But it needs to be taught to the young and to those able to understand it. This group is not that; nothing will be gained.

I know I've already won tickets to a spring game next year, business class flight to and from TB and what ... about $250 each inning in food yes?

I am using the profits from sports cards to buy stocks in my brokerage account. I initiated a small position in AAPL, GOOGL, AMZN, FB, PYPL, SHOP, ABNB, COIN, UPST, DOCN, SNOW in my brokerage account and reentered targeted funds in my 401K in the past few days. I still believe indices will drop another 5-10% and maybe more. I am planning to add (value average) more GOOGL, AMZN, FB and AAPL in my brokerage account on further price drops. I am also looking at ETH, ADA and MATIC. I might speculate (small amount of money) on them if they drop another 25-50%

Sitting in the owner's box at this rate, but not sure the $6 left in my account will cover it.

401K down 13.8%. Again, tempted to hault contributions. Don't think we have seen the nadir. Can always restart and increase contributions on the upswing, whenever that is.

I'm a novice in this area but it seems like from my amateur position that we have more suffering to endure.

I didn’t contribute to my 401K out of fear from 2009-2014. Biggest mistake I’ve ever made financially.

Yeah… I would also recommend that you DO NOT stop biweekly contributions to 401k. You are still getting the tax benefit from contributing and are accumulating more on the dip. Especially if you are young. I look at my nephews and they should be ecstatic the market is tanking even tho in the short term it is admittedly tough to endure.

Why would you stop contributing? Always contribute the max in a tax deferred account.

$20,500 max for 2022
32% tax bracket
$6560 in tax savings
47% ROI before accounting for any appreciation/depreciation

It’s incredible how many people don’t contribute at least what their employer will match.

This year I was finally able to max out 457b, in addition to my 403b. Both accounts are in the toilet YTD but I’ll gladly take the tax savings, it’s about the only thing working for me haha

I have both of you beat sadly.

Down 34% in the past 7 months!!

Been losing about 5-10k a day for the past 2 weeks most of the time.

I stopped the bleeding and went to some bonds and cash and re balanced today.

I still think the market has a lot more room to go down and most likely keeps going down til December.

After the big sell offs multiple times last week i thought we would start this week off good. After i seen today i think its about to be a free fall all week and month.

Inflation, many more rate increases, even many companies posted great q1 earnings and they drop 10-30% off of a GOOD earning report.

Incredible how that much value can just be wiped out so fast.

$10.20 right now. Likely will be under $10 at open.

There's nothing left.

Upstart: From a high of $400 in October to $34 in premarket. Ouch! That is almost a 90% haircut from the highs. The IPO price was 20, so I would not be surprised if it drops to low 20's. I added a few shares here (speculative play)
