Huh? Can you elaborate? Assuming that you're serious..Soto has essentially won everywhere he has gone. When have the Nationals been better? When is the last time that the Padres went deeper than the NLCS? The Yankees, the Yankees! Hadn't been to the World Series since 2009. I'd sure like some more selfish guys like this on the Mets. Are players not supposed to take the most money available? Also, aren't you a Luis Robert pumper? How's that working out? Watch out for those cutters and sliders!!

I don't get it. His numbers are a little down, but not that far off from last year's start. He had 9 HRs after 177 ABs last year, this year he's got 8. His AVG is worse, but he's still getting on base at a similar clip. Same # of Doubles, he's just missing a few singles.

Oh I’m serious but that necessarily isn’t a bad thing if your name is Soto, he got a massive contract, he and his family and further generations are set for life. That doesn’t mean Soto isn’t greedy, arrogant and at the moment not living up to his contract. The fact that a simple statement rattles you so much that you get all defensive and bring a player im collecting into the equation even though there is no real reason to do so is pretty amusing, thank you.

He put up a career year, 8 fwar season, then signed the largest contract in mlb history. Oh and he signed it in NY and not for the team he played for last year. Anything less than what he did last year and he's going to get the media microscope.

now my take on it is crochet is one of the best lhp in the game
there is a chance he couldn't even see the ball

but the optics are bad no doubt

I have been a huge juan supporter since 2019 but man between him and devers I don't know who is having a worse PR campaign in 2025

Devers is worse. Soto's is purely a media creation. No he's not hitting like last year, yes the Mets overpaid, yes he will probably hit like crazy next week when they play bad teams.

There's only so many articles they can write about Judge being great. Plus Soto is the highest paid guy in baseball. He's their new Arod.

His statcast numbers are elite outside of his Launch Angle Sweet Spot. I think the guy figures it out quickly

He went through the same thing with the Padres.

I really like Soto, but he's human and -- apparently -- pretty sensitive and it takes him time to get comfortable and get in the groove.

It's funny that it wasn't a bigger storyline during the contract conversations, but I have no doubt he'll work through it. But for those who haven't seen Soto over the years, get comfortable because it might not be until September or even next spring.
