PLEASE ask him why artists do not have access to different print options? It sounds like artist pay is based on profits. Don C, for example, would sell A LOT more cards if given the opportunity to use foil in printing.

Vides was allowed matte print, why no foil? Or was this an option but declined by Don C?

THIS QUESTION. If we paying $20/card can we get more options, printing styles like the Vides cards?

That'd be amazing

At least he added something to the photo this time, probably added 5 minutes to his production time, for a total of 6 minutes

I wonder if Topps at least had an idea of what each artist was going to do, give them an example of one card design, etc. If they did then I guess they were clearly happy with it when they signed that contract. Koufax is still really the only one I like from him.

The start was greeted with trepidation. Then more and more people came on board. The artists entered the thread like Caesar entering Rome. And then the wheels fell off. People turned against Blake for trying to make money (how dare he!). Money bears, fanny packs, companion cards. I enjoyed every post. And the gifs! There had to be at least 250 Salma gifs in the first 1000 pages. I watched the one of her clapping from beginning to end every. single. time. And if I missed the beginning, I watched it again. And then things changed. No more Mr. Wheeler pics. No more daily total updates. No more happiness.

And in the last 160 pages there have been 4 Salma gifs. Give or take none.

Every day we stray further and further from Salma.

LMAO!

I'm fairly sure they didn't, from what Efdot has said in his livestreams he essentially just got an offer from a Topps social media person and that was it, he had no idea what he was going to do design wise. Obviously for the most part they can just look at your art and get an idea, but since (L)OLdmanalan does streetwear, not sure what they were expecting

I'd like to know what guidelines/rules Topps gave to the artists - there had to be some parameters.

Maybe this is something Blake has already mentioned?

I agree. I think we are starting to see some sort of "pattern" or "theme" from him. I like that his cards are still unpredictable, unlike some of the others... Like we know Fucci is going with the faceless thing... Oldmanalan's original reprtints... Grotesk with his bird looking thing on every card... Shore and his childish cartoons... Chang with her attempt to incorporate everything she's learned abut each player... The rest of the artists are doing a good job at keeping us guessing and anticipating their next release. Personally, I can't wait to see the rest of JK5's cards, as I feel that his cards are the most detailed and well thought out.

From the Beckett interview, Jamieson said:

“Just like verbally or over email Topps said, ‘You can basically do whatever you want. We don’t want you to change the team logos and try to have some type of homage to the original card. But besides that, do you.’

I keep changing, but the ones I'm most curious to see what they do are Ermsy and JK5. I feel like I have no idea what they're going to do next.

Stupid question, but did the artists already design all of their cards and now we're just waiting for them to be released? Or are they making them up as they go along? I ask because, if they've already been designed, we can kinda predict what most of the cards will look like lol. If not, they still have time to switch it up. Make sense?

Some yes, some no. I know Blake said a while back he knew his next 2 were Mo and Mays, but he didn't know when he had the others. Ermsy has apparently already done all of his. At this point, there's nothing preventing any of them from designing them ahead of time now.

Just got Jk5's Clemente. Wish i didn't pay $175 i paid for it, but i think it's his best card out of all the ones in-hand. Nice splash of yellow with the red bottom border. Really like how the halo thing around his head fades into the card as well. Takes on a different look when in hand vs seeing it online. The tie-in to Mando and Darth Vader seems kind of random, but whataever....so much amazing detail - i'm not complaining.
