Canadian banks bought in 2020 and earlier.
Down from peak but not much.
The 5% div helps.

I'll just buy more if they drop 10-20%

Thought as ATVI headed under the $75 mark the reward outweighed the risk at the $95 buyout price with a higher chance of success than failure. With Buffett's announcement yesterday guessing some of the former gets shifted.

Haven't bothered with TWTR but still very interested here.

A financial advisor I know told me to check out cruise stocks becuase bookings are just about full and they should be profitable again, soon.

He referenced the stock price prior to Covid and that there is a lot of room to get back up there. He didn’t realize that most of the companies took on a bunch of debt or that they diluted the hell out of shareholders to stay afloat.

I was a little flabbergasted. I know he always has a long term view on everything but ewwwww.

Probably a dead cat bounce, but I think there’s room to run here. Trimmed some TJX and now at 36% cash. Heavy TSLA and lighter AAPL and TJX. Just 0.1% off my ATH at the end of 2021.

Financial advisors and CFA’s don’t pick stocks. Portfolio managers pick stocks. Tell your friend to support his thesis with $20k on cruise stocks and then watch it with him over the next year or two.

Those balance sheets suck. He might be right, but stock and/or sector picking is out of his lane.

Yes I know. I was more shocked that he was completely unaware of the balance sheet issues. I don’t care where a stock has been, just care where it’s going.

I guess I figured he would have more knowledge/discipline with individual stocks. I know he tells his clients what his company tells him. He has even said his job is 90% psychology and getting people to stay in the market in times like this.

I know you know this, but I’ll throw it out there incase anyone here doesn’t realize how the dilution works.

He used an example of NCLH. Stock was ~$55 pre Covid with 213,082,000 shares outstanding ~11B Mkt cap. Now $19.59 with 416,892,000 or a ~8B not cap. Double the outstanding shares. That sucker isn’t getting back to the $55 share price pre Covid. Not only have shareholders been diluted but the stock has lost over half its value and still won’t turn a profit this year. Quick ratio isn’t even above 1. If I could insert a poop emoji it would be next to this balance sheet.

Not the best timing but looking at the choices I was considering for my pick:

CPNG -57% (this was suppose to be fun)
BRK/B +5.98% (should have played it safe)
AMZN -31%
DIS -28%

If you haven’t seen options mentioned you didn’t read when I used to post more. My group makes a killing on options. Days like today are days to but long options with tons of time value remaining.

Today is nasty. Hopefully people saw yesterday for what it was. It was a chance to get even or make a few bucks and sell out.

10 year is at 3% this afternoon.

I need to learn about this world of options, puts, etc.

Watching my 401K balance flatlining for 6 months is kinda meh. Makes me want to just stop contributing while the blue shirts are in office and take the extra cash and buy more cardboard, or a vacation
