When Edfots Jackie was released, i then decided that i would like to own all Jackies P2020s. i had not felt that way after passing on Naturals and seeing what its assigned value is now. i missed out on a few so far, but was able to go back and pick up a Cartoon (centered) for $21 here on BO. i still need Changs, but there is no rush. i also missed out on Vides' Jackie, which has not been shipped out yet, but with a print run over over 20K, i am not concerned at all about being able to find one for $21 if i choose to spend that on it.

i guess some of this rambling was spurred on by Matt asking me yesterday if i ordered the Rochester Rickey because i thought the PR would be "low". i told him (and its true) that the reason i hesitated so long was because the border is purple. if it had been black, i would have bought one right away, as ive found that since his Griffey came out, i have taken a liking to his watercolor style. (i picked up a Griffey aftermarket here for $22)
so i wound up ordering one yesterday before the clock expired. The print run on it wound up being 4,966. does that number mean i'll be able to find an after market copy for $22? MAYBE, but not certainly.

THAT is the point im trying to get across here in this long-winded post lol

Will todays Sandy sell 20K? Na, cant see it. will it sell 9K? possibly. if it sells 5K, will it be readily available for $22? THAT is the rub indeed

again, to reiterate, *i* speaking for myself, do not care if these are $5 in 2022. i am living and collecting right now, in 2020

I feel the same as you. The Vides' cards honestly just literally stood out to me today after I saw the Koufax. I went back and looked at his other creations and came to the conclusion that I just liked the cards as he has kept the original design but put his own take on them. I have been looking at what is out there and like you, I am hoping to find some good deals on the cards I have missed but with today's Koufax, I am going to go ahead and order it from Topps as I feel I just wont be able to get one later for less than I would pay Topps today. I don't care about print runs and stuff like that but in this case, I don't think this card is going to sell more than 5 or 6K copies and I don't want to take the chance I will have to shell out 30 bucks for this card when I could have had it for $17 if I buy the 2 pack or 20 bucks if I buy the single.

That is one thing to note with P2020, a lot of the cards have a significant difference between Topps image on site versus in-hand appeal.

First post in this thread. I heard about the roller coaster ride of this set in another thread and didn't want to ruin it so I started on page one. I've spent the last week or so reading every single post in this beautiful train wreck of a thread. It literally has everything.

The start was greeted with trepidation. Then more and more people came on board. The artists entered the thread like Caesar entering Rome. And then the wheels fell off. People turned against Blake for trying to make money (how dare he!). Money bears, fanny packs, companion cards. I enjoyed every post. And the gifs! There had to be at least 250 Salma gifs in the first 1000 pages. I watched the one of her clapping from beginning to end every. single. time. And if I missed the beginning, I watched it again. And then things changed. No more Mr. Wheeler pics. No more daily total updates. No more happiness.

And in the last 160 pages there have been 4 Salma gifs. Give or take none.

Every day we stray further and further from Salma.

Sure I do, it takes more effort and vision than some of the others. They are also the nicest looking cards in the set. It is not like the garbage some of the others put out. If you don't like them, don't buy them.

Has anyone done a return to Topps for any of these cards? I received my Blake McGwire today and it is off center left to right 80/20 Its the worst one IVe seen. Im not happy.

There won't be posters unless Topps sells them, as the artists are not allowed to sell prints/posters or anything like that

I'm sure posters will come in 2021 after the project, as to not take away money from the cards themselves. If Topps were smart they would offer posters not only of individual cards but a 20 card showcase poster of each artist and player.

If you're familiar with his work, it makes a lot more sense. Also, I'll point out, I've been following along, and this dude BUSTS HIS ASS. He's ambitious and hungry.

Here's an installation he did.



Long term, an artist from this series needs to go big if it's ever going to have a serious impact on the aftermarket prices, but I think Vides has that potential. He's hot AF right now, just look at all the crazy collabs he's doing, this Topps project is just one of many.

Also, his cards are some of my favorite in person.

I think these look great. Unfortunately, his style does not translate for me to this project. I wish he would have done something more like JK5 (black and white with maybe a touch of color). As they are now, I do not see the appeal of simply adding a few black lines to the existing card. To me, his style translates to this project worst than almost all other artists aside from maybe Baller. And don't get me wrong, I think both are super talented. Their work just doesn't translate for me here.
