Oh man did you just grab this from eBay recently? If so I was in on that until about $1k but you guys flew past my max bid before I even got to put it in.

I did grab this from the same auction though

Sick cards guys

Man I was looking at past Franks sales can’t believe a red crusade sold for $1,700…like $7k less than a mirror gold and less than a star quest choice.

I don't know wtf happened to that red. All I can think is the refractor line took some bidders out. I was expecting $4k+. Basically the same price as his Super Rave, which, while a great card, is not a Red. Makes me feel really bad for what I paid for my PMG

Awesome pickup up. Yes, same auction. Been looking for this one forever. I love the grand finale. You’ve got a much better picture of yours than mine. The hologram on mine is a bit dull.

I honestly thought I had watched that card, and was wondering when it was going to end. I didn’t realize that it already did. That’s an unbelievable price and in my eyes, an anomaly. I would have genuinely bid 2x that price (refractor line aside) but I guess I didn’t click watch. Someone got a steal. I don’t think many owners of that card would sell that card at that price.

I do know the crusades don’t have the same cache as some sets that cross over sports, but I paid only $300 less for my quantum . Guess I overpaid!

93 finest are definitely iconic but IMHO not the holy grail. Print run was high, I think j stated was 241 but everyone knows there are a ton of Piazza ones in the market.

I would probably pick something in the 1996-1999 range, when the insert genre really peaked in terms of bling, innovativeness and scarcity. Generally speaking, I’d personally go with -

1996 - Select Certified Mirrors Golds (30 print run, with red and blue parallels add another 135)

1998 - Donruss Crusade Red (25 print run, with purple and green parallels add another 350)

Those two sets have commanded top of the market for awhile among most baseball collectors I know. That being said, 1998 PMG and 1997-1999 ECs are rising. And the 1998-1998 Pinnacle stuff is AWESOME in hand…-and 1997 and 1999 Finest and 1999 Fleer Brilliants get votes too

Question....how much does that scratch affect the value?

That’s probably a $30-40 card if it’s mint. With that scratch/indentations I would guess you’d get $15-20 for it.

Thanks man appreciate it. It was one of my best PSA subs ever, there were more but didn't want to flood the stream with more pics. It blows my mind why more people especially Red Sox fans don't collect him, agree with you 100%

Anyone noticed that base refractors from late 90s & early 00s have been getting alot of action? Not crazy money for the RJ ones Im seeing, but they aren't $3 anymore either.

Also, the Essential Credentials bubble is real.

1998 Stars N Steel Gold Holographic. Golds were 1 per box, Gold Holos were 1 in every 3 or 4 boxes. This was the first RJ I've seen for sale in 9 years, one of those low key HTF cards.

Working on 98 and 99 Rockies team PMG sets. Have made good progress, have one more 99 (Kile) and three 98s to pin down (Walker HG, Perez, Lansing)

New to insert collecting, but quick collection.

How hard is the PMG set to collect?

PMGs are gross, and the 98 Canseco PMG is the worst! If you find one you should send it over to me

Top 5 set of the 90s, incredibly desirable (especially the 98s), hard to find and you'll have to compete with set builders and player collectors for damn near any player with a following. Good luck if you attempt it.
