Bought 10 more share of goog after hours - short term could be ugly but in a few years, would look good i hope! And finally used margin since robinhood limits 50k movement into account being used right away - anyone else use robinhood and know what ways gets funds quicker when needed?

Depends what happens tomorrow. I don't think there's potential for a 20% downside turn but here we go.

Still up on the year! Only by a few points, but still up.

Our benchmark is the S&P in good times and breaking even during bad times. Quite frankly, a money manager isn't worth his/her salt if he/she isn't netting a positive return throughout any market conditions.

Down about 25% on year in my port mostly due to 2 stocks TSLA - PYPL
I’m not concerned long term with TSLA
…..plus I bought my qty in the 100’s

Can anyone explain in simple terms what happens if a public company goes private?
What happens if i own stocks?

The latest one is twtr. Heard is about $54.20. Does that mean im going to get $54.20 on each stock?
Also, Why the twtr stock at $48.69 right now if everyone knows you'll get $54.20 when it goes private? Kinda feels like a no brainer.

Am i missing something?

You risk watching your investment fall from $49 to ~$30 if something happens that causes Musk to retract the offer and/or the deal is killed. More often than not, after terms are agreed to, a sale is completed but there are examples of deals that fell apart and with Musk, there's always a level of uncertainty.

The reason you see the discount today is largely because the valuation of TSLA dropped substantially yesterday. Some believe the more TSLA drops, the higher the chance the deal w/ Twitter does not actually happen.

All of that said; 10% return is about as large a premium as I can remember for a deal that has been announced. (3% or so is about standard).

I believe the Activision vote is upcoming at some point this month or next, currently trading at $76.50 vs. the $95.00 potential. Besides what NC mentioned the opportunity cost certainly comes into play on deals like these.
