I honestly don't think there's anything McCaffrey can do to move the needle up on unopened 2017 wax. Maybe he makes a nice consolation prize if someone is busting it but it'll always be primarily Mahomes driven.

This thread isn't filled with folks buying Prizm base at sky high prices and hoping to flip in 3 weeks for 2x.

This thread is filled with people who got in early and watched it rain down mana from the heavens from 2018-2022 and have all cashed in on the once in a lifetime opportunity it was. If you look at the posts, now we're mostly just chasing rare inserts that cost a couple hundred bucks or some rookie year parallels to round out our collections.

And anybody with the courage to hold long term knows that not every season is going to be an MVP and a Super Bowl. Sometime you just gotta settle for leading the NFL in yards and playoffs. Brady had his 06 season before Moss when he had 3500 yards and 24 TDs and missed the Pro Bowl, then his 08 season where he threw for 78 yards and blew out his knee. Not every year is gonna be a record setter, but I don't think Mahomes is going to be passed by Burrow, or Herbert, or anyone else this year in the long game.

2023, Mahomes was top 5 in most hobby dollars spent towards any given player. #1 Jordan, #2 Ohtani. Have to check but Patty may be #3

I thought it was interesting in the press conferences yesterday that Mahomes basically said everyone has to look at the game tape and fix their mistakes. Kelce even said on his podcast that it's not just one person. It's time for the real clowns like MVS and Toney to take accountability for their piss poor play instead of always having our 2 HOFers do it for them.

Someone on reddit brought up the point that for the last 6 games the Chiefs have been on shorter rest than the teams they played. Not saying that's an excuse, but in the NFL, it's definitely a factor.

Chiefs vs. Raiders- Raiders has 1 day extra rest (Chiefs played on Monday the week before)
Chiefs vs. Packers- Packers had a few days extra rest (Packers played on Thursday the week before)
Chiefs vs. Bills- Bills coming off a bye
Chiefs vs. Patriots- Patriots coming off 10 days rest (Patriots played on Thursday the week before)
Chiefs vs. Raiders- Raiders had extra rest (Raiders played on Thursday the week before)

I know Patty drives the bus, but 2017 was/is a great class. Hopefully, in 10 years we are talking about more than just Patty.

I would be interested to know how many of the posters in this thread still have a meaningful Mahomes collection, vs those that have sold off their collection and now watch from the sidelines. As you noted, many in this thread made some impressive bank on Mahomes. As a diehard Chiefs fan, I got in fairly early on most of my Mahomes RCs. However, I continue to stay fairly active and selectively pick up SSP inserts and other RC cards that I like (albeit at a more selective pace). I have yet to sell a single Mahomes, but recognize that I’m in a position where I can take a longer term perspective. Perhaps I missed my optimal window to sell, but it brings me joy and is a great bonding opportunity with my boys. If anything, I may look to consolidate my portfolio into fewer, more desirable Mahomes cards.

as a Chiefs STH I will continue to buy cards of my QB...only cards I've sold were to trade up into bigger Mahomes ...easily my favorite athlete ever.... every great QB including Brady has had bad games....or didn't win SB or MVP most years actually ...enjoy the ride fellas

Also a STH and feel exactly the same way, Im also doing the same thing. I just picked up another patty today, first one in awhile. A very nice impeccable rc /25 psa 8. Best one ive seen in a while with sick patch and helmet.

Cause here in 2023 Kamara is looking washed on an average team and McCaffrey is in MVP discussions on the #1 seed team in the NFC.

Also imagine the chaos if they go on a run to the superbowl. People forget the magic Pat pulls out in the playoffs. Difficult season for sure but if this offense can atleast fix the mistakes we still can beat anyone with this defense. Any patty magic would just be icing on the cake at that point.

It’s quite possible that they walk into week 18 vs the Chargers needing a win to ensure they make it:

-loss to the Bengals
-Either a Raiders or Broncos win

This week sets that up.

If they lose and the Raiders and Broncos both win this week, then they’d have to win week 18 to win the division, unless the Raiders and Broncos tied
