Let’s play into the future. Say Ohtani keeps this up and gets to 50 HRyhis year and continue that pace for the next 2-5 years. Where will his general base cards land at? I will assume PSA will have opened by then. Could we see cards like TU, TCU, TC, BC and the like pushing $1K each I. PSA 10 grade? Autos will be out of the range of many.

I think so but the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if someone else values the Bowman Chrome Red /5 higher

Hard to believe that will ever happen unless Acuna falls off the cliff into a mediocre player. It's undisputably the most iconic card of the last decade

PSA 10 base are not just going to keep going up forever. There is significantly less Ohtani graded right now than there "should" be for how good he is. The populations will explode when PSA Economy opens up. You've got maybe a year or more before the super flood of PSA 10 base will happen but when it does prices will fall plenty no matter how good he is. I really believe PSA 10 base is the worst buying option for Ohtani right now. Here are some numbers vs Acuna:

2018 TC PSA 10:
Acuna: 7800
Ohtani 2700

2018 TCU PSA 10:
Acuna: 6800
Ohtani(US1): 1600
Ohtani(HMT32, Rookie Debut Batting): 800


2018 Topps Update PSA 10:
Acuna: 18000
Ohtani(US1): 4900
Ohtani(US285, Rookie Debut Batting): 650

2018 Series 2:
Ohtani: 2300

There was more Series 2 printed than Update so that Ohtani S2 number you can expect at least a 10,000 increase. All of those numbers will catch Acuna eventually. The RD Update paper probably won't since I wouldn't be surprsied if alot of those got literally thrown out or not kept in decent shape because they were near worthless.

But as you can see, there are eventually going to be tens of thousands base PSA 10s added to the market in under two years. If you buy base PSA 10 right now, you are buying at the absolute peak of scarcity there will ever be.

That is definitely accurste. I am going to get some slabbed by either CSG OR SGC to capitalize on the increasing prices. PSA prices for slabs are simply too expensive and the flood WILL definitely impact prices down the line.

BC is already pushing 1k lol.

Disagree that glut will lower prices. If ohtani keeps it up, there's a LOT more room for growth. Glut will simply lower the growth from say 150 percent to 100 percent.

Yeah that’s a good point on the attractiveness of the acuna bat down pose, etc. I guess the assumption for it to be close is that ohtani continues the elite two-way play for at least a couple more seasons (very difficult) into the stuff of myth/never to be seen again, and acuna falls way off on his assumed potential career accomplishments.

True as this may be, it's not going to get better any time soon. PSA "reopened" to a $200/card entry service level and the bulk orders from pre-shutdown are still not cleared. It will easily be a year before the queues are cleared, service levels are restored, and cards are graded.

I am wondering if anyone pulled this 1/1 from 2018 leaf ultimate draft (pic shown below). I haven’t seen the red #/5 popped up for a long time too.

I have been watching on eBay and blowoutforums waiting for those cards to show up but no luck.
