I’ll only show my cards off in public if I can have a gun drawn. You may grab my stash and run but you’re taking a bullet along with everything else.

It's not worth it to spend the rest of your life in prison because you used deadly force to protect cardboard. Carry the gun to protect the lives of you and your loved ones. Never pull it to protect property. Nothing easier to prove it wasn't self defense in court than a victim with a bullet in his back. Obviously this area of law is state by state, but states that allow deadly force to protect property are few and far between and getting fewer by the day. Please check your local deadly force laws before going armed.

Nah. In California, they take your stuff and you tell them, "Sir, you forgot your Michael Jordan Fleer RC PSA 8".

Sound advice and I posted in jest. I sold all my ultra high end stuff during the pandemic so I'm far removed from possibly facing anything close to this. It's just a shame how we have gone from frontier justice to the opposite end of the spectrum where criminals do not fear the light repercussions imposed on them by public officials that have more disdain for law and order and those that are sworn to uphold it. Those that pay for it are you and I and that poor guy who lost a fortune in Dallas. At some point these criminals run into the line of fire at the hands of older men with nothing to lose and their best years behind them all in the name of general principals. These men view the authorities as merely outsiders. It's a roll of the dice for these criminals but many of them don't realize these men are out there.

Now, if these gents robbed a bank of 2 million dollars, they would be hunted by the FBI 24/7 until they are caught. Take from an ordinary Joe and it becomes a cold case faster than we can light a cigarette. That's the unfortunate reality of our society.

Where criminals have way more rights than victims. California shouldn't brag about warm weather and beautiful beaches. If I want that I'll go to Spain or Florida. I have no reason to go to California.

The rare "I feel like crime is out of control" and "I'm shocked the law and order types I want to elect care more about big corporations than ordinary people" crossover.

"Frontier justice is extrajudicial punishment that is motivated by the nonexistence of law and order or dissatisfaction with judicial punishment. The phrase can also be used to describe a prejudiced judge. Lynching, vigilantism and gunfighting are considered forms of frontier justice."

Depends on the circumstances, state law and most of all, what your statement to the police is. You have the right to remain silent and request a lawyer. Do that.

I will say this, in most states, unless they're in your home, deadly force wouldn't be justified against someone retreating or running away unless you still feared for your life or someone else's. But in general, it's not regulated to California. You aren't getting away with shooting a teenager in the back for stealing your Pokémon V Foil Reverse PSA 10 in most if not all states. Prevention is key. Lock your #@#@#@#@ up. Now if it's an armed robbery, you likely got a reason. Check with your state law and always request a lawyer

Curious, anyone ever hear or see an update on this? I looked and didn't find anything different than the actual story of it happening.

My tin foil theory according to something I read when it comes to fraud / theft - someone wanted those cards in their collections and probably hired the thieves to steal the cards.

It doesn’t matter if the mastermind will never be able to show them off, just as long as he knows those cards are now in his possession.

Being that it's a family owned business, unless the thieves or their buyers destroy the cards even more, it'll be virtually impossible to sell them publicly for the next 50+ years. I'm sure the only grading companies that matter already have detailed images of each of the cards.

Those guys are back home in their countries of origin and the brains behind the operation has the cards tucked away in a safe. I'll salute the cops if they ever solve this.
