Just picked up this beauty to celebrate. Say what you want about an overpriced product, the triple patches are beautiful. Add to that Nesmith's first Pacers' jersey card and game worn to boot. I value that more than licensed TBH.

It's also the first Nesmith card ever to capture the visage right. Literally took five years. This is the 'Mr. Business' that players actively avoid on the floor.

If he wins a ring at the time this product was released, so much historical relevance.

I was wrong but Mathurin kicked me in the groin right before the game

I'd personally have it DNA cross tested.

If Banksy Kneesmiff'd (which would theoretically be the perfect public deflection), you could potentially be looking at enough funds to purchase the man himself.

I mean, Nesmith already purchased his freedom with a 3 year $33 million deal. You can go anywhere on that kind of contract.

Even the NBA couldn't engineer a deal with Warriors or Lakers when the man said 'naw,' run it back. And look at those city slick almost-rans now.

Music to a hobbyist's ears: "Cavs within a point. I was wondering when Haliburton and Nesmith were gonna return."

"Which jersey you buying"

"Hey gang. Fun question. If you were buying a jersey of a current Pacers player to wear during the ECF, who are you picking and why?

I honestly can’t decide because I love so many members of this team. I have it narrowed down to 3…Nembhard, Myles, or Nesmith (I like the dudes that do the dirty work)."

Ne1tu
"Between Nembhard and Nesmith, which would you say you see less of?
This whole team is deserving of the support, but these two stick out the most.
Dawgs."

Asleep_Improvement80
"I teach middle schoolers. Nesmith has generated the most chatter if that helps your decision."

conniebuoy
"Get a nesmith. He deserves more love. I don’t see many people rocking his jersey and I go to a lot of pacers games at gainbridge."

Jus picked up this /25er. How long can these last in the eBay aisles for $17.99?*

If I was still in the investment-search hobby phase, I'd be looking toward middle school cool, rather than who is sporting what in the National aisles. To be sure, middle school probably skews heavily to non-sports, so wrong demographic. But look to the Air Jordans.

(Ironically, Nesmith has been sponsored by NB, but yet to have ad placement or a signature sneaker. Prolly waiting for a totally organic, fair trade shoe manufacturing ecosystem to arise. moooo)

* A lot longer than a $29.99 Prizm blaster at Walmart.

It's an interesting crossroads in the collecting odyssey. The Pacers have beat all odds to earn an ECF rematch at Madison Square Garden, but prices have not changed much, except marquee RPA that I don't really covet much anyway.

Having recently purchased one Works in Progress sapphire /25 and having another raw, I realized that there was yet another /25 on the Bay, a PSA 10. To me this is one of those designs that really stands out and I particularly like it back in the day, before they started adding heavy lettering and backgrounds. So I put in a $40 offer that was accepted.

Don't really need 3, but my instinct is that I could sell this at a profit, basically tomorrow.

Then I noticed a really cool looking Nembhard Obsidian yellow etch /10. This 22-23 design I actually like better than the 20-21 (have two of the old Nesmiths). Put in a $50 bid and that was accepted.

To me, this is like a $300 card, if any market at all for his stuff exists.

So yeah, working the investment angle. Focused on the lag between performance and price.

Interesting question. Two similar cards, two very different bidding stories.

This horizontal Flawless Gold RPA is $600 with 7 hours to go.

This vertical NT Gold RPA is $280 with 8 hours to go.

Playoff stats are basically similar, each is considered either a high-level role player, or the heart of the team (by their respective fans). Playoffs are about to pop and positive exposure worldwide (Le Paceurs). Why the extreme price discrepancy?

I know I have been harping about the particular fall-asleep pose for years, and the wrong jersey and new-condo development aesthetic doesn't help either.

But is there something else at work? Are Nembhard collectors hipper and more of the spend generation, or is Canada's economy outperforming our own?

Was mildly encouraged when a few Celtics fans said they would be rooting us on, as we took on NY. But from the podcasts, they seem to be in full wallow-in-misery mode. I imagine a lot of the Nesmith core rookies are still in the hands of early collectors, who couldn't care less. And Pacers fans have so many negative associations with Boston and the Bucks, and their colors.

I wonder if many players who evolve collecting bases, in today's multi-team delirium, have unique stories like this.

There is also the Flawless angle. A Nesmith Flawless RPA /10 exceeded $700, though with fewer bids. Are the GU elements and better aesthetics now getting their due? I could see how international collectors might not even want a set with "National" in its name much.

All is well. The NT vert gold reached $712, finding a new floor in line with the last similar auction, with a healthier 44 bids. Certified organic baseline moving forward. Meanwhile, the Nembhard horizontal Flawless topped out at $870 or something.

Still got that Drew envy.

Interesting thing, looking at the recent NT vertical gold RPA sales. Nesmith represents one of the higher such transactions.

Sure we have the outlier Jordan Poole BIN for a purported $5,999.

The Deni Avdija $3,351, 53-bid head scratcher (a sophisticated Trae racket?)

Jamal Murray $1,942. As an early collector I would still feel undervalued.

Alperen Sengun $1,740. Long time since I heard that name.

Bam Adebayo $1,664. Fair.

Keegan Murray $1,605. Long time...

Nesmith $755. Okay, that was the sale before. No longer suspect.

Ivica Zubac $599. Who?

full circle. Just like the basketball Nesmith always gets his touches on.

and they say b-ball was invented in Indiana.

Just got this collection of 10 Pandora /150 for like $20.

Pandora's box and whatnot.

Maybe by the time I get to Indiana I can sell them for $20 each.

I was thinking of taking it to an LCS and see if they want to pay me straight comps for a few good cards, on the potential of a further playoff rise.

Thing is, any player could out with an injury in a day. Ninja is not wrong, though three jeepneys and exclusive membership in Club Shay Shay seems like the life ideal.

Personally, I think its gonna take a while for all the low-hanging rarities to disappear off eBay. Just seeing stuff I never imagined pop up in new listings. Is green disco fast break Prizm /5 even a thing or are printers getting busy?

Thanks... you know, other than the five 3s that went down quickly, it wasn't anything new.

What I really like about Nesmith is that he does become the alpha on the court in crunch time. But otherwise he tries to blend in as one of the crew. That keeps his collective motivated. Each player thinks they are the alpha at times, and who's to say they wrong?

But in the crunch, as with game 7 last year at Madison Square, a name tends to stand out.

Can we just call him Crunch Alpha?*

What I don't like about the hobby is the blatant profiteering. I think ya'll know which of the three I think is not only the most cool, but a deal I like.

"The 25-year-old swingman — in his third year with the Pacers after two seasons stuck on the bench in Boston — was just trying to do anything he could to keep his team in striking distance after they fell behind by 17 points in the fourth quarter, and he knew what could get them back in the game quickest was 3-pointers. He didn't know he had six of them in five minutes or that he had a career-high eight of them in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals against the Knicks until someone — or more accurately a whole lot of someones—- informed him of that when he reached the locker room.

"I was just doing what the team needed of me, you know?" Nesmith said. "I was just letting them fly. I was in a good rhythm. Didn't really realize what I was doing in the moment. Just trying to win a basketball game."

But what he did know was the shots he needed to make were going in and every one he took felt progressively easier. So as much as the Pacers were in a white-knuckle battle in the last five minutes of regulation of what turned out to be a 138-135 overtime win, Nesmith was also enjoying the process of willing his team back in a game that had at one point seemed lost.

"It's unreal," Nesmith said. "It's probably the best feeling in the world for me, personally. I love it when that basket feels like an ocean and anything you toss up, you feel like it's going to go in. Ahh, it's just, so much fun."

* I mean we not going with Chuck's Fresh as a Daisy.

and the cards...

Two big (for me) pickups to kind of cap the moment. Thing I like about basketball cards is the general collector base is kind of in the moment, uninformed. I let these ride a day in case the owner wanted to take them down.

This a hundo. The sickest example of Double A's 1st ever game-used Indiana material card.

Released during 2025 playoffs no less.

This $76 all-in. Have had my eye on it for a year. Everyone misses the Flawless diamond cause of all the commons around. Heck, hit Indiana around the country fair, think I could sell just those commons (and now that I look at it, low numbered) for a hundred now.

My third of these. Another just popped up on the Bay, but now it two fiddy.

Is this really going to come to pass?
