Listening to a trainer who is juiced to the gills tell a noob client “I just have killer genetics. But I can get you pretty close to where I am if you just follow my program and trust me.”

I am going to start the gym this week. I'm still not where I want to be weight wise, but I want to add some muscle.

That’s not a trainer. That’s an influencer

Mike O'Hearn works out at your gym? Small world.

Just back from the gym, not sure how long going there will last. Just a bunch of dudes walking around putting weight on bars, taking a picture, then taking the weights off. Only 2 other guys in the entire were actually doing anything. I may just build out a home gym.

I guess they want people to think they can lift it on social media. Skinny dude put like 325 on the bench, took a picture, then unloaded the bar.

I remember several years ago getting some pictures taken professionally. The photographer—a fairly overweight guy (and not “former athlete” overweight)—asked if I lifted and then started telling me about how he had gone to the gym for the first time in years and had benched 300 just to make sure he still could.

This was a guy who was more into smoking bowls than pushing plates.

It was so weird. I guess he assumed that most people don’t realize how rare a 300 bench is?

I didn't touch the bench today. I wasn't about to ask any of those clowns to spot me. I'm sure I can do nowhere near what I did when I was playing football.

Don't make my run this morning, I had dairy yesterday and I should have known better. I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst stomach pain of my life.

I haven't been as consistent as I should have been in the gym, but today I hit 8 million lbs lifted so far this year.

I realize tracking cumulative volume isn't super popular, but it helps me stay somewhat consistent with my Leg Days because it's pretty easy to move 80,000-120,000lbs in a single workout.

Thinking about starting a photography project and snapping pics of everyone I see filming themselves at the gym. Saw two people with full on camera crews (video guy and audio guy) following them around while they pressed 185 on the chest press machine.

is there any real reason i should get a full rack instead of half rack? Planning my home gym and leaning towards Rep Fitness Apollo half rack. We have a PRx foldable one but moved and now have plenty of space. We are used to working out outside the rack and the half rack would save some money

I think a half rack is fine for most people. If you are lifting very heavy weights to failure, a full rack is safer. However, it is overkill for the majority of people.

I am thankful that I don't have to deal with this much. I got mid-morning to afternoon and no one has been recording themselves recently. There is one roided up guy that just hangs around for three hours talking to people and once in awhile he sets up his phone to scream a motivational message to his followers I guess, but nothing more than 1 minute.

And I should keep posting to keep myself accountable.

Total Goal (Year): 1,000,000 meters
Meters rowed (June): 90,394
Meters remaining (year): 467,020

Average split (single class): 2:01
Average split all classes (approx): 2:08
Best split: 1:31
Benchmark Progress (21 min challenge): 5,155 meters (next benchmark is 2k in August)

More importantly, doctor said my weight and labs are back into the healthy range and working out is helping my progress, so I'm feeling pretty good.
Welp, I will not be hitting my goal of 1,000,000 meters rowed this year.
Row House has closed all their Chicago locations effective tomorrow.

YTD stats:
673,319 meters rowed (was on pace for 1M)
2:06 (estimated) average split time per class
Tied a personal best 1:58 average this past week.
1:26 (new PR) best split time

Unfortunately not uncommon for me to not hit a New Years resolution, but this one stings as I was on track and still going strong and it was taken away from me with a 2 day notice.

Not hitting the gym today. I spent a few hours carrying railroad ties at work to move flower beds in a park. Talk about a full body workout

I haven't been in the gym since August 1. Last month was wild.

Starting back up next week.
