And notice the super narrow data set, it's a poor attempt on his part to grasp at straws. Easily accessible actual published stats at baseball reference, for career with 2 outs and RISP Trout is a .265 hitter with a .460 OBP. Late and close, .248 average with a .407 OBP. High leverage situations, .294 average with a .426 OBP.

Those are actual measurable stats with enough stats in the books to make a conclusion off of. These stats don't exactly blow you away admittedly but they show that he is still an above average batter in these "clutch" situations.

Harper is considered clutch and he is only a .228 hitter with .367 OBP in late and close. David Ortiz was probably the most clutch player (in my opinion) that I've seen and in same stat category he was .256 average with .371 OBP for career. Not all moments are the same admittedly but this narrative that Trout isn't clutch doesn't pass the smell test, it seems to be more sour grapes

Late and Close is a far larger data set than go ahead run in 9th inning and extras. I don't think BBref has that, but I'd love to see it for more players.
