What the hell was that halftime report? Does the NFL and CBS not communicate with each other?

NFL: "Hey, we're going to put a stack of big ass speakers right here, pointed in this direction, with the volume at 11."

CBS: "Cool. We'll set up right there then."

I understand there's a strong tradition of the league sending in their worst officials to crew the playoff games. But since when do the broadcast networks take the same approach with their production teams? "Mic'ing up the set so that you can hear the commentators over the halftime 'music'" is like Broadcasting 101 stuff, and they almost always get it right...
