As a seller, I can see where it helps when you have a number of orders to ship but weeks when I have only a couple cards or a single buyer, it costs more money in the end.

It is a little bit easier using the box but not enough to really swing me one way or the other on it.

I use it as a buyer as I end up buying a lot of small packages (1-6 cards usually) and it is more entertaining for me to open a pile of packages and cards at one time than single packages here and there. But if you want you cards in a more timely fashion and like crossing things off your lists sooner, I would probably stick to home delivery.

My two cents anyway.

Not pertinent to anything talked about here recently, but I wish there was a friendlier (for lack of a better word) way for buyers to browse a seller's inventory.

Even a side bar after you click on a seller that listed his inventory sort-able by year or something

There is a way to do this - sort of - though I agree, their search functions could be much easier.

The best way to do this (that I have found) if you are looking for additional cards in a certain set from one seller is as follows:

1. Search for the card itself that you know is available from the seller you are looking for (so you can see all sellers).
2. Click on the "details" tab in the dropdown for that card from the proper seller
3. Click on the "search set by seller" tab on the right side of the listing (there is also a link for "search player by seller" that can be handy for those player collectors)

You can always search all the cards by the seller and then search the set however I find this way to be a bit easier to manage and click through it much quicker.

Sorry to quote myself, but here's an idea I just got. What if the buyers could click on a link from a seller's page that brought them to a menu of that seller's inventory that looked like our inventory report screen?

Obviously when they click on a set it would tell them the cards available in that set and not let them change our inventory, but it would be a much easier way for them to quickly see what sets a seller had, and the cards available in those sets.

That seems like a pretty solid idea. I believe I have seen the twitter handle for Sportlots pretty receptive to design ideas/implementations. Worth a shot at least.

Overall, in my non-tech opinion, the site needs a big time overhaul. That said, the guts are there and it seems to be a solid platform. I just think it could be a lot more visually appealing and improved functionality-wise. I'm sure that's much easier said than done.

My big idea was: I think it'd be really nice if sellers could export their inventory in Excel. It'd be nice to use for clean outs or other misc. projects.

Maybe it's because I'm old (53 this Wednesday) but I don't participate in any social media stuff.

Edited to add: For anyone that does know how to pass on ideas to sportlots via social media, feel free to send my idea along to whomever.

It actually counts negative for orders filled in less than 3 days to the box. So if you get two orders per day, and fill every 5 days you will get an average days to fill of zero.

I've yet to go that route but have really wanted to know how much I'd really save going the box route. Up until now I have only done large orders through one seller so I would just do shipping through them. I am whittling my lists down now to where it would be 10-15 here and there for each seller but not wanting to pay the individual shipping rates to each person.

How often would you have to pay for the second box shipping due the amount of orders and any idea on that cost? I just don't want to do it and then get hit with an even bigger cost that way.

I messaged Sportlots and asked them what their rates were for box shipping but have yet to hear back. The way you can tell though is by going to the screen where you place your order - not the cart but the screen where you can choose shipping methods and payment options. If you change you shipping option to box and then look down in the bottom right, you'll see the box calculator -

Change the option to pending and you'll see potential box shipping costs and the amount saved. Hopefully that makes sense.

I know that when a seller puts their inventory on vacation mode it gets removed from the buyers shopping cart. But does anyone know if those same items get put back into the cart once the seller switches vacation off?

Appreciate that. I will have to try and see.

Also does anyone know how long your cards will be held before they have to ship out? I would consider doing it but I may only be able to place 1-2 orders this month and then again until next month. I don't mind them hanging out I just don't want to do it and then have it cleared once a month and then not get ay discount on the shipping and hold.

It does not. Super annoying setting, especially for large sellers. I have personally asked Max for a better option, he said it's on the list of improvements. That was several years ago.

Now that I've added the bin designation to all 40,000+ of my cards I absolutely love it, but why does it have to show up on the packing slip?

It's not that big of a deal, but is there any way to stop that from happening?

nam812-I pull my orders from the packing slip. No sense in printing out "pull cards" and invoice, waste of ink and paper. I was one of the many to get Max to put bins on the invoice(packing slip). The larger your inventory becomes, and the larger your order is, the more you'll be thankful for bins being on the invoice.

How do you do that when you have to hit "fill order" to generate a packing slip?

nam812-when you receive an order and the screen comes up with the order, in the upper left corner of the order you see, Order number. Just below "order number" is the customer name. Above the name is a link, click on it. It should take you to the packing slip. It comes up on my computer in the print mode. I print my invoices @ 65%, saves on ink. On an order last week, @ 100% it would have been 11 printed pages, at 60% it was 8 printed pages. Let me know if you see the link under Order number.

*Should have said when you click on "fill to buyer" it "fill to box" the screen comes up with the order, in the upper left corner of the order you see, Order number. Just below "order number" is the customer name. Above the name is a link, click on it.

Curious what you all do in this situation... I had a buyer place multiple orders before I packed/shipped. I sent them both in one mailer. Just had the buyer reach out requesting a refund on shipping b/c of that. While it's obviously not a big deal to refund a few dollars, that's the trade-off the buyer is making by placing multiple orders. Plus, one of the orders was only a few cards and would have been sent PWE. Instead, I added it to the mailer and was able to protect the cards better. How would you respond? How do you treat it when you have multiple orders from the same buyer?

On a related note, I have never been able to figure out how to refund or discount shipping. Anyone know how? My work-around was always to discount/adjust the card prices, but I stopped doing that after a buyer reached out and complained.

Bobby is correct. When you have open orders, just click on the left side at the customer name. It automatically opens up a printable version of the packing slip. I just print this, go pull the cards, and include the packing slip with the order.

Also, if you use PWEs, on that packing slip that you just printed, you can just use scissors and cut out the name/address right off the top of your packing slip to tape onto the front of your envelope instead of hand addressing or retyping the address again to ship it.

Don't forget to go back and click "Fill Order" when you're done though.

MountainGoat-I've never had anyone request a refund for postage in 15 years on sportlots. Ive handled this situation two different ways. First, I received 2 orders within minutes of each other from the same buyer, one pwe size, one parcel size. I sent them out as received and in the parcel, I added a note to invoice letting customer know he could save postage by combining the orders. Second way, with some of my regular customers that have two orders close together, I ship them together and place a cash refund with the invoice-the amount of the lesser order-and ship both orders in the parcel. They are always appreciative in their feedback. I dont try to make money on postage, but because of zone pricing on parcels I do on some parcels.
If I were in this situation, I would probably place a couple of bucks between two beat up cards, tape up the ends, write a short note thanking him for the orders, tape the beat up cards on the note, fold it up and mail it out. Could develop a loyal customer, if you don't, you might receive negative feedback.

Is there a way to see a history of offers that you have accepted or rejected?

If I have multiple orders and can combine them I usually refund extra postage. Sometimes I adjust card prices, other times I throughly cash in with the cards. I’ve never had a compliant about adjusting card prices to give back postage - why would a customer complain about a refund.

I agree it would be nice to have a shipping refund option.

I only offer budget up to 4 cards - sometimes a buyer will split a 5-8 card purchase because that is cheaper than a bubble mailer. When that happens I don’t combine - I send two separate orders.

If you are talking about COMC. Go to my dashboard and there is a area (Offers and Proposals) and it has a Offer history. Click on it and you will see all of them

Thanks, I was actually checking on Sportlots. I had an offer expire and now I don't see it and I wanted to contact the collector.

Anyone ever have the problem where a seller completely disappears from your cart? I realize it does that when they are listed as away for vacation mode but somehow a seller is gone from my list and is still listed and has active cards they are selling.
