You figure 1 solid name per box; $1k is about right for high-end given the checklist. However tough to justify right now before Christmas. I'm sure it will sell out though.

For those thinking about it.... just look at Transcendent and let that help you decide.
Retired and Current.... Keep in mind... it very easily could be.... Barry Larkin Cody Bellinger Don Mattingly David Ortiz Dave Winfield Greg Maddux Ian Happ Johnny Bench Josh Donaldson Jim Thome Noah Syndergaard Pedro Martinez Rod Carew Rickey Henderson Reggie Jackson Tom Seaver Nice names right.... just look at what the Transcendent cards sell for and realize you will get 4 of those and 1 star (Acuna, Soto, Trout, Ichiro...etc) per box. |

What gives me reservation is it sounds like $1000 for just 5 autos. If it was a set plus autos it’d be an easier decision. Some of those names like Justin Upton won’t bring much more than a typical release regardless of how high end it is.

I'm reading this as you get 5 autos, plus at least one set. Either the Design 1 (50 card) set or the Design 2 (55 card) set. With a chance of getting both. If they do 1000 boxes and everyone gets 5 autos, there is a max, assuming even distribution, of 10 autos per player.
Am I crazy for coming to those conclusions? |

It’s not really a ‘set’ if you only get five cards. I’d probably buy if it was a full base set with the designs plus five autos but not just 5 cards. If anyone wants my reservation message me. I’ll be buying a few singles instead.
Edit: I’m also irritated by the lack of info in the email. No release or ship date. No link to the checklist and they want me to fill in a Google doc and have a card on file after the data breach this year with no option for PayPal checkout? Come on Topps, do better.

Really Topps?! For about the same price as Dynasty/Luminaries/etc, you're sending uglier cards, with NO patches, or chances for amazing cut autos.

Interesting that each design has a slightly different subject list. Looks like no auto numbered over 25

Did anyone get a confirmation email after you submit your reservation? I submitted and got the "Your response has been recorded" on the site, but I did not get an email confirming anything. Just checking. Thanks.

Seems like the $1k pays for more than 5 autos:
![]() Membership includes multiple items by itself and the Brooklyn Collection hopefully a set with those 5 autos. Last edited by D-Lite; 12-03-2018 at 06:05 PM. |

This is not a good start. No chance I’m spending $1K without knowing possibilities.

Still, what would be resale value be for a sealed box? I think it would be pretty good with only 1000 boxes.

If every player signed the base #/25, red #/15, Black #/10, Purple #/5, Platinum #/1, there should be 5,600 cards.
But only 5,000 cards exist (5 x 1,000 sets). So, not only that the auto list is underwhelming, but also some of the top tier guys are probably not signing the base versions or skipping some parallels. Though this might be the same with any other product, to think of this for a $1,000 box really keeps me away from buying the product.

No that’s what you get for the $200 membership fee. This is separate from that.

If they did dual autos... this set could be big.
Ichiro/Matsui Judge/Jeter Trout/Ohtani Bryant/Rizzo etc etc etc |

I feel like Topps really needs to deliver big on this one. They've messed around with Now too much. Interest is starting to fade a bit with Living. But those are both small dollar risks. If they blow it on this one, it will be really bad for them. For that reason, I hope they really deliver with these sets. If not, we're all $1200 poorer and dumber...

$1000 for five cards.
105 cards on the checklists. (Some players are on both checklists.) Each card on the checklist, presumably, has a /25, /15, /10, /5, /1. Rough odds, on your 5 cards, are: 2.2 cards numbered /25 1.3 cards numbered /15 .89 cards numbered /10 (1 in 1.12 packs) .44 cards numbered /5 (1 in 2.24 packs) .09 cards numbered /1 (1 in 11.2 packs) Players with cards in both sets: Beltre, McCutchen, Pettitte, Rizzo, Gibson, Bo Jackson, Bernie Williams, Biggio, Chipper Jones, Ripken, Mattingly, Ortiz, Lindor, Frank Thomas, Maddux, Springer, Sanchez, Torres, Matsui, Ivan Rodriguez, Altuve, Bench, Bagwell, deGrom, Soto, Votto, KBryant, McGwire, Machado, Piazza, Trout, Tanaka, Nolan Ryan, Syndergaard, Pedro Martinez, Acuna, Clemens, Devers, Henderson, Randy Johnson, Reggie Jackson, Ohtani, Molina. Players with half as many cards as those listed above: Judge, Kaline, Rosario, Harper, Larkin, Jeter, Sale, Freeman, Hank Aaron, Justin Upton, Brock, Rivera, Ozzie Smith, Alomar, Carew, Hoskins, Koufax, Sandberg, Will Clark. I'm not doing it. Way too much risk. Kind of an odd offering as the first item for people who paid $200... and haven't seen anything yet. If they built some credibility from the membership first, I might be interested, but it's an odd first offering. Edit: With 105 cards on the checklists, and 56 numbered cards of each, that comes to 5880 cards, or 1176 total packs. But they said limited to 1000. So they either (1) rounded, or (2) many of those big names didn't sign any of the /25's or /15's or /10's, or /5's. 880 cards not accounted for... Big names might be even harder to come by, though the big name rookies seem to be signing like crazy, so they're probably all there... But you also know that Takanka and McCutchen signed all 112 of their cards... Last edited by DaRitz; 12-03-2018 at 06:30 PM. Reason: Update |
