Haven't bought football cards in years, at least regularly, but I've picked up 4 Dak Optics. 2 silver prizms, 1 blue prizm, and 1 base auto, all beautifully centered
Definitely paid a premium for centering, but I can't have bastardized cards! Centering must be legit! |

After buying both I would say I prefer prizm. Like the look of the cards

I know they aren't numbered cards, but Optic's bronze parallel cards seem to be pretty rare(purple too from searching the eBay auctions).
I opened 7-8 Optic "Collector's Box" and it looks like you only pull 1-2 Rated Rookies in each one. With a 50 card Rated Rookie set, that's a really tough pull, right? What do you guys think? |

Am I losing my mind or is there another thread? I thought I posted in here
I prefer Optic. Both have there ups & downs as far as pics go. I like the throwback design. They are also doing it like Topps did with base Topps & Chrome. The pics are a personal preference and I like the Auto's & being on card & numbered which I would have liked Topps to do with their base chrome Auto's. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edit to add I think Topps refractor coating is nicer for some reason? Depends on the year, 2014 Base Refractors were awesome, but 2015's didn't pop as much.

I have been following this thread, but wants to give time for many opinions and for the newness of Optic to wear off. I spent about the same $ on Prizm and Optic this year, Optic $100(1 hobby box) and Prizm $80(blasters). Honestly my mind has kind of shifted. I was leaning towards Optic because of it's format with the color refractors and one on card auto per box, and even though I didn't get any autos out of my Prizm blasters I tend to think it is a better overall product, I wasn't anticipating autos out of blasters anyhow.
For 2016, Prizm is the winner. For 2017, Panini needs to at the very least format the Prizm autos like the Contenders autos, get the guys at the Rookie Premiere to sign ON CARD, and put 1-2 of those in each box and the other autos can be stickers. For retail Prizm take the relics out, nobody honestly wants a single color jersey anymore, give us an extra pack of cards instead with the possibility of an auto or a dedicated pack of a retail only color like pink was this year. Additionally, there is no need for 3-4 different levels of retail Prizm. Packs, Blaster, Little Retail Hobby type boxes, it is overkill, especially when each retail product carries it's own exclusive color. Pink, light blue, red...dumb. For 2017, Optic needs to have 2 ON CARD autos for a $90/box product to start. Topps got away with it because you could pre-order Chrome at $60-65/box, 2017 may not have the draft class firepower to carry a product as expensive as Optic, Panini got VERY lucky with 2016 being the first year of the exclusive and had two Cowboys (HUGE FAN BASE) carrying the product. Additionally, make the RCs look the same. There should not be two tiers of RCs with two different designs. Make one RC design and if the guys from the Premiere need an insert, make one, but Tyreek Hill was a better rookie than most of the guys with a "Rated Rookie" card. Both products had issues, with Optic having the most considering the price point. Panini has some work to do. |

17 Prizm Dak and Zeke rookies (base and a few colors) sold at the show today. 0 optic. Another interesting tidbit - 10 BGS 9.5s sold, 0 PSA 10s.
As for autos - people were looking for all kinds, didn't matter, as long as it was NFL jersey, they were selling. I used Dak and Zeke because they flew off the tables. Wentz, Paxton, Tyreek, Goff - all 0 sales or even looks. And also this is a show in Texas with heavy Cowboys signers, including the triplets, so Dallas was being bought hard. As I've always said - Prizm hands down - which is why I stocked up on them in the beginning and am still stocking up lol

I hate the off-centering in both, especially in the Optic. Yeah, I know it makes the well-centered ones more prized. I'm leaning towards Optic over Prizm lately, but those color variations sure can be fugly in Optic.

They certainly made up for the tsunami of cases by at least making the cards look halfway decent. 2015 was another story, and 2015 as a product was by far the best I have ever done qualitatively buying Chrome in general.

Here's an example of an Optic variation that makes me want to throw up a little...

Optic might have delivered the knockout punch this year with Prizm's missteps.

The other thing I really like is the Optic hot boxes-was lucky enough to get one last year and got 5 autos + #ed/5, 2 #ed/10, and 5 others under #/99. |
