I posted this in the Yanks thread. This is why Soto needs to sign with NY. Yes, he is and has been great. But, IMO, hitting ahead of Judge has taken him to another level.

Soto resigning with the Yankees seems like a no brainer from a performance stand point. However, Boris is his agent will will look to maximize the dollar amount above anything else, and Hal runs the Yankees like he has a mid market team.

All comes down to what Soto wants. Great time to have a career year, but he def seems different hitting in front of Judge. If he wants, he can hit in front of Judge for about another 5 years, but maybe that's not that enticing as Judge could regress.

Would be curious to track these to see if they had sold in the past few years or not.

Many hoarders of Soto have several of a given card, so they could just be moving duplicates.

I would be surprised by a signed in-season extension.

I would not be surprised about offers from the Yankees or rumors about an extension before the end of the season.

Soto was pretty coy when talking about FA during the all star game red carpet. I still think Boras wants him to the highest bidder.

Wasn’t it reported he was amendable to an in-season deal? I just think it’s inevitable he signs with them. And I don’t see him willing to continue discussions into September as he won’t want any distractions. So I think they get the deal done soon.
