85% haircut.

I remember getting lambasted as a bubbleboi.

Still has room to drop.

If true, something is wrong with that sale. It's just not in line with what other copies of the card are selling for.

Could be as simple as nobody trusting that it was real, or someone paid and the seller never shipped.

84 bids is decent activity but we aren’t at bottom yet.

Yeah, if the GOAT's Champ ticket has already dropped 80% and still has room to drop, why would Mahomes NT RPA be immune?

Definitely wasn't a real sale. I'm pretty sure this guy was trying to sell a Mahomes Spectra 2017 gold vinyl 1/1 and the auction was pulled because they had stolen the listing. I mean, the guy's ebay name is "stole 'em" lol

If you pay close attention, he used the photo from original Goldin auction listing. If the May 6th sale is not legit, why is there no negative feedback and why is he not banned by ebay yet?

Is this a joke? It takes about 22,487 infractions on ebay for a seller to be banned lol. And you can't leave negative feedback anymore. You can only leave positive feedback and then write a negative review... You think this dude who was selling $50 baseball autos had a Mahomes NT RPA PSA 10 and a Contenders PSA 10? People did their research and chose not to bid.

Just did my own research on some items I sold that were canceled and they still show up in terapeak.

I haven't sold on freebay for almost 2 years now. I wasn't aware of the bolded part.

Thats not entirely true. You cant leave negative feedback for buyers. Thats been a fact for years and years now.

You can still leave negative feedback for sellers.

A sale price being on Terapeak also means nothing. It doesnt confirm if a card was sold and paid for.

Yes, I should have stated that what I meant, that you "basically" can't leave negative feedback anymore (i.e. ebay makes it really hard). And I think if you were refunded, even if you had a bad experience, ebay will remove the negative because you got your money back.

I messaged the seller and asked him if the card was still available and here was his response (did not expect this lol):

"Hi there. Man this seems like the same story over and over lol. Ok the card was never purchased. When cards get into a higher dollar value people seem to flake was more often than not. So let me give you a quick back story because we have been trying to sell this card for a while now but with so many flakey buyers it still hasn't sold.

First off I do not own the card. I sell consignments on behalf of clients. Everything I have ever posted I never owned myself. This particular card is owned by an older couple who sell cards as a hobby. They are in the horse racing industry so they travel a lot but sometimes they ask me to sell certain cards they come across. Which was the case with this card. I have probably had 15 other people message me just like you just did asking to buy the card. Some in the lower range of $50-60k and some as high as $100k. However, not one has ever actually sent payment.

I would say like 90% of the cards I sell on behalf of my clients aren't sold on ebay or online. People message me directly and send offers in hopes that I take down the auction and they can purchase it. Most become repeat buyers over the years.

Maybe like 2 years ago I sold to a person in Taiwan and he paid via PayPal. However, when he received the card he claimed he received a box full of socks and opened up a case on paypal. I of course knew this was false because I know what we send. I have been selling for my clients for 7 years now. Neve ronce had a complaint. So this was obviously someone trying to come up on free product.

I provided PayPal with the tracking number and even pictures of the cards being packaged and showed the label on the box. However, for some reason they sided with the buyer. So my clients were out of the product and $17k. I felt bad so I paid the clients the $17k out of my own pocket. But I refused to pay back paypal because the guy lied. Since I didn't pay paypal back they closed my account and since they own venmo they closed my venmo account also. So to prevent any problems for us and to reduce the fees associated with all of these big name apps we switched over to either zelle or check. However, once you send a check over a couple thousand dollars the banks usually put a 7 day hold on it. Which is why zelle is people's preferred choice. The only problem with zelle is most banks (like mine) only accept a certain amount a day. My bank only accepts $2k a day. So there would need to be quite a few transfers.

So to be honest a lot of our repeat buyers sends cash in a brown box via either UPS or FedEx. USPS is also an option but most people prefer UPS or FedEx.

Now, I have reached out to the couple who own this card at least 15 times about people claiming they want to purchase this card only to have them back out. I just had a guy on Monday back out. So I can't keep telling them we have a buyer and then they don't come through. So that's why I sent this long email to let tou know exactly who owns it, which form of payment they accept, and how many people have backed out already. That way if you want to proceed then we can do so. But I can't keep having people back out. I don't want to jeopardize my relationship with this couple ad they have allowed me to sell on their behalf for 7 years and I would like to continue to do so.

They have already said they plan to just go to auction with this card sometime in the future if it doesn't sell before that. So they aren't too worried because they will eventually sell it either way. So if you want to proceed let me know. If not no worries. You can always look for it at an auction in the future."

So, I'm headed to the bank now to put $100,000 in cash in a USPS small flat rate box. Wish me luck everyone!

No, it is not.

I contacted the seller when I first brought it up, said it hadn't been paid for. I asked for additional pics and he said he just sells things for other people, I can't say I believe him.

EDIT: I didn't see the above post before replying, lol, yea, seems like a super legit sale (feel the need to add this is sarcasm). Good to know CardLadder isn't usable for actual sale info though! Not that I'd use it anyway.

I think the more telling thing around here is the folks who ignored recent comps and common sense, and immediately jumped to the conclusion that this sale was legit.

PCP, I'm kind of surprised that you fell on into that group, since you are typically pretty on top of things and have made a lot of great choices over the years when it comes to card values.

I agree. As bad as the market is, a Mahomes NT RPA PSA 10 is not 46k. Although maybe it will be because there is no doubt people are moving away from NT RPA's and their non game used Dick jersey patches.

I'm not sure the 'not game used' thing is the real driver here.

If you only collected Mahomes cards that were game used, you would have exactly zero Mahomes cards.

It's just a matter of the entire pie getting smaller here.

Thanks man! I did end up selling a true gem Xrc and ultimately ended up getting the min gem aqua optic. I LOVE the xrc it just seems so much more “common” (I guess many more available on eBay) than there are the aquas (colored optic in general). I feel long term numbered and lower POP is the better play. Does that seem in line with others thoughts in here, or what do you think?

I’m certainly not one to be giving advice as I’m a card collecting newbie compared to most of the other guys that frequent this thread.

I will say that I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I believe most of the iconic brands will do well in the long term. Rated rookie has plenty of history in the hobby and anything low numbered will always be desirable. The XRC is only a pop 384 with PSA so it’s not like it a high pop card either, it might sell for higher if it was actually numbered.

All that to say go buy another XRC and hold lol

It's just a matter of the entire pie getting smaller here.
I don't know. I used to always be in the camp of "NT is king" but I have seen a lot more people these days complaining about the lack of game worn stuff and being annoyed that you can trace the jerseys back to Walmart. I think some of the instagram talking heads are making headway in convincing people it is ridiculous to spend 75k on a Lukea NT RPA from something he never wore, rather than getting a complete game used jersey. I'm sure it's a little of both. Obviously high end is down on everything.
