I had zero issues with the supervisor(s) and individuals. However, it's clear they lack any kind of effective guardrails and process training across employees. Nobody had a clear understanding of their own policies.

I don't think I would have gotten the engagement I did if I didn't drop them off in-person. I cannot imagine how much more stressed I would be if I dealt with this via on a mail-order basis. I would advise against sending anything of high value in the mail.

This is a non starter of course for the TPG, but one could dream.

edit: for high end cards (I mean, RE agents get comped 5-6% for doing boring/low value add paperwork to move $500,000 homes, yet $500,000 cards are handed off with zero agreed upon expectations for handling, only a firm handshake and vote of confidence)
I’ve never submitted a card at a show, but in another thread (maybe on Facebook) someone said that they received no paperwork, no itemized receipt of any kind upon dropping off their cards to PSA. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen if that’s actually how PSA performs intake at shows.

now if you mean Autos. SPs. SSPs, Parallels, etc then that will be interesting!
Previous poster said "Key" RC cards would appreciate more than other RC cards. I thought that was a pretty vague statement. I assume "Key" RC cards would be any Ohtani RC auto, numbered cards, and SSP's. Now obviously Bowman chrome autos and non-autos seem to be king in the market right now. I am just wondering what others think is a "key" card that will appreciate more in the future than other non-key RC cards.

And yes, I know you are fond of the numbered black flagship cards!

For me, I am only interested in RC cards and maybe some non-RC autos. I could really care less about the rest.

There are plenty to choose from. Both high end for those looking to "invest" and base rookies for those of us who have other expenses to worry about.

The 2018 Stadium Club SSP Variation is under the radar, I would say. The total population is only 58, with just 25 PSA 10s. I definitely plan to add one in the future, but I need to add more auto RCs first.

I really think the key and most wanted cards are the SSP variations. They have fresh, cool photos not the same boring pitching or batting shots. I honestly love my SSPs way more than my autos. They just feel more special and fun to collect. IMHO

One one hand, the card I have checks all the boxes you could want for an Ohtani 2024 card (Dodgers "rookie" year, dirty patch from his 50/50 game pants, on-card auto, also from the year the Dodgers won the WS, he won MVP, established the 50/50 club, not to mention the game he achieved 50/50 might also be one of the greatest single-game performances in MLB history!). And at least for right now, there are only 93 cards in existence that he's autographed that have a patch from his 50/50 game.

On the other hand, rookie cards are rookie cards, and being able to pick up on-card autos (with OG sig) from his rookie year will never be a bad decision as just about everyone covets Sho rookie autos.

In a perfect world I'd just keep my 50/50 card and go pick up some rookie autos to add to my collection and have the best of both worlds, but money doesn't grow on trees.

So then the question is what will be the better long-term hold, flagship rookie auto(s) or his 50/50 game relic autos? My brain tells me rookie autos are the way to go, but then again it's very possible he will be the only player in the history of the game to ever go 50/50 and to give up a card that commemorates that achievement with a patch from his game pants to boot....

His RC autos will always be top dog. In my opinion the 2024 autos will command a premium over his 19/20 autos for the unbelievable achievements you mentioned above.

In football a superbowl winning year auto is a premium over a non superbowl winning year auto.

Now 20-50 years from now? Who knows what collectors will be after then. Those collectors who are alive now to witness the above mentioned achievements will want an auto from history vs some auto from another random year. I know I would.

It seems 2024 autos are a premium now.

The most undervalued Shohei cards are high end.

Yes, that's correct.

Are people going to kick themselves in 20 years for not buying good Ohtani RC cards now even though they have greatly appreciated in price this year? Or are we near peak pricing today? That is the real question.

That depends on Ohtani. Can he continue to conquer a deeper legacy?

What are his % chances of achieving another 50/50 season.

What other major achievements can he achieve? Can he get in the 500 hr club?

Getting more titles will obviously help.

This is my Ohtani hobby miss. Stadium Club is my jam and I had a few I could have gotten over the years and failed to obtain them because I was being lazy and wanted a better deal.

Such a nice card.

Nice variations! The SC SSP is a very tough card to get a 10. One of the few where the premium is really earned.

Does anyone know when the nickname “Shotime” began? Is this the earliest card with his nickname?

Topps really mucked up his 2018 SSSP as it looks like a reverse image of the image variation in every factory set
