Hoped for less but I can live with it.
Now just looking forward to his return. It's been a long time since he suited up.

I'm also a huge dog lover myself and he was dead to me the second it happened, I personally felt like his career should have been finished back then, but with today's culture, he wouldn't be given another chance in the league.

I also think if there was even a shred of actual evidence, dude is in jail, and even if not, with even the tiniest bit of real evidence, he's getting at minimum a full year suspension from the league. Pretty sure in the end, this is just all about the hard facts and that there is no evidence other than the women's testimonies.

Court of public opinion, everyone knows the dude is guilty, but like the old saying goes, unfortunately, it's not what you know, it's what you can prove.

People are saying 6 games is too lenient, but it is what it is.

It was later revealed that Ridley bet on a small handful of games, including games involving his own team. Yes, he was separated from the team at the time, but he was still an Atlanta Falcon.

Of course, those are just the ones we know about. Chances are there's more out there we don't.

By comparison, Pete Rose was (still is) a chronic gambler with several years history of betting on MLB games, including ones within which he played and/or managed. I saw him in Vegas once at his memorabilia store, where he still sells autos regularly.

PSA 9 Prizms were going for $99 last night. One just sold for $175.
A Rookie Signatures NT and a Contenders Optic auto just sold for $750-$800.
I think his prices pick up more going into the season.

Agreed. Handsy McGroperson should've been "handed" a longer suspension.

24-2

I’d say that’s quite a few more.

Too harsh. But it's refreshing to see an objective judge disregard public opinion & hearsay and stick to FACTUAL EVIDENCE. Not many examples of that these days.

You are probably right, but I don't get it.

He's suspended for 6 games-- so he can practice on his own, but can't be at the browns facility, workout with other players, etc... (at least I think that's the rules)
He's back week 7 at the Ravens which won't be an easy game seeing he hasn't played in a real game for over a year and a half.
one advantage: he can still participate in training camp and pre-season games.

Am I the only one thinking he's going to be rusty for a game or two when he comes back? (his second game back will be home against the Bengals)

And who knows what the Browns record will be when he comes back? I'm sorry Browns fans, I don't see them making a lot of noise this year,

I think the NFL appeals, at least for "looks".

Didn't they already say they're not going to fight the decision?

They start the season with a very easy 4 game stretch. Carolina (5 wins last year), Jets (4 wins last year), Steelers (major downgrade at QB), Falcons (major downgrade at QB). Then 2 tougher ones against the Chargers and Patriots.

3-3 is an extremely realistic record to have in place for Deshaun's return, which puts them right in the middle of the WC race and probably no more than a game out of first place in their division.

IMHO the big unknown for Cleveland is not how those 6 games go because, as mentioned above, 3-3 is very do-able.... but rather the big unknown is how Deshaun performs in his first action in 22 months.

(Needless to say, the above assumes his 6 game suspension does not get increased)

From what I recall, the NFLPA said they weren't going to appeal anything and "hoped" the NFL wouldn't either.

That sounds about right. It will be interesting to see because this year will presumably be a wash unless they do well the first 6 games. Maybe the can get a wildcard spot but that will be hard in this division.

It will be interesting starting 2023 because that’s when Watson’s money kicks in. Depending on where you look, right now it appears they are at least $30 mil over the projected cap for next year.

In the days leading up to Robinson's decision, the league and Watson's side engaged in further settlement talks, sources told ESPN's Dan Graziano, but neither side ever felt they were close to an agreement. The most Watson's side indicated it was willing to offer was a suspension in the range of six to eight games, according to sources. The best the league indicated it was willing to offer was a 12-game suspension and a significant fine -- in the range of $8 million, sources said. While the NFLPA said it will not appeal the decision, the league still has the right to appeal.

Watson and NFLPA happy as they got what they were offering the NFL. I think NFL will appeal as they got nothing close to what they wanted.

"Watson will continue to be able to participate in practices and games during the preseason. But he will have to be away from the team during the first half of the suspension after the regular season begins. According to the CBA, Watson will be allowed to rejoin the Browns and practice with them during the second half of the suspension, which would begin in Week 4"

I agree, the start to the season doesn't look terrible, but the back end (when he comes back) is nasty.

game 7: @ Ravens---first game back, on the road probably a L
game 8: vs Bengals--likely a L
game 9: @ Dolphins-- tough one, one the road, could go either way
game 10: @ Bills--L
game 11: vs Bucs--L
game 12: @ Texans--W
game 13: @ Bengals--L
game 14: vs Ravens--Maybe a W
game 15: vs Saints--L (I'm liking the Saints this year)
game 16: @ Commanders-- Maybe a W
game 17: @ Steelers-- likely a L

The only games I could 100% pencil in as a win is Texans, maybe the Dolphins and the Commanders too, but those are away games. The others are a loss or too close to call.

So what impact will the 6 game ban have on his card values?

Go up initially b/c we all know he will be back?

Stay where they are until he actually starts playing and then go up/down based on performance?

Stay the same unless his team does very well? Their schedule looks brutal so I don't see them even making the playoffs.

Thoughts?

I have trouble penciling in 2 automatic losses to the Bengals when the Browns have beaten them the last 4 times they've played. 3 of those games with Joey B.
