I'm going through sohrob's Photobucket and it's equally amazing and exhausting. Not to mention I think my PC's going to get a disease from all the ads.

I'm still working on an analysis of sorts. Someone earlier asked how many of sohrob's cards ended up in BNC hands at one point. The short answer is a lot.

Here's something that interested me that doesn't seem to involve BNC. sohrob had this card posted on his bucket with an overall 8.5 grade and 8 surface grade. There looks like there could possibly be a scratch on it.

Whatever course it took over time, it's now being sold by someone else as a 9 overall with a 9.5 surface grade. That seems like a big jump to me.

After not visiting blowout for several months, I was very fortunate to have seen this thread from the first few days and was able to catch up quickly.

Regarding this last post by deadshot, I have no proof, but from day one I always suspected sohrob was part of the altering, along with BNC. I am giving rookies Jack, the benefit of the doubt.

Who knows, maybe I got it all wrong, but that is what my gut tells me.

From an 8 to a 9.5 surface. They either need better graders or something happened to the card. How could it be that subjective?

I'm still going through a lot of stuff, but it the majority of sohrob's Exquisite stuff graded high while he owned it. He has quite a few before and after pics in some albums that I need to look at a little closer.

Here's a fun one for you guys to follow.

This is a picture of the Gobert logoman when sohrob owned it.

BNC is now consigning it for wegotstock99.

the27guy probably wants it most out of all of them, as he mentioned earlier

He has/had some amazing cards. Everyone remembers this one as there were two threads about it being real or fake. Wonder if it's a real patch or not.

It's in Probestein's hands now and it's been reslabbed

https://www.ebay.com/itm/382604860514

Here are 10 quick matches of cards that both sohrob and BNC have owned/consigned at one point. Remember - they both have/had super nice cards, so some of this is expected.

That's just a slice here and slice there away from grading gem mint. "I've got an eye for this kind of stuff"

KD Exquisite 55/99 w/ NBA logo patch is a well-known fake. Is there still any doubt here?

Never should have been any doubt on that one

This thread was recently brought to my attention because it has my name in it.

A few years ago I was admiring an item from my collection and was disheartened after examining it closer and comparing it to another copy I own that is a lower grade. The first thought that came to mind is this is trimmed on both sides. I don't have enough experience with the set to know for 100% certain but I do have my suspicions.

I went back through my email inbox and did find some dialogue with Brian and it is the purchase referenced in my CU post quoted here.

Is there anything useful in the email from Brian?

No. The only reason it is referenced is because I was making light of my drunk bidding on the item I had won from him. I hit the next bid button on my phone like twenty times and then came in hard near the end.

He had contacted me wanting to buy some 1994 Miami Hurricanes Bumble Bee Ray Lewis perforated cards. You can't trim those.

You'd probably be surprised. When we're talking about 1/64" that isn't very much. That would probably be just enough to take the jagged edges off and sharpen up the corners. I know a couple years ago i had a bunch of Jordan Spieth Sports Illustrated For Kids. They were hotter than fire at the time. There was a big difference in price from gem mints to 8.5's and 9's.

I suppose anything is possible. It was right after he sold the first PSA 10 for $2,200. I sold him a nice PSA 8 and some raw ones that weren’t high grade. Perhaps playing the review game and maybe to try and get signed. I was happy to sell them and recoup some of my investment. Chasing the Dwayne Johnson from the set is my worst hobby investment ever.

Still digging around a little bit. Here's proof that not every rough looking card in sohrob's collection was trimmed (and I'm not implying that a lot were either).

Here's the same card with the same damage in 2016:

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...eck-1801673115

I don't know what year sohrob "got into the game," but I figure it was after Gilbert's fall from prominence anyway. No need for anybody to fix this one.

sohrob has a lot of BGS 9s and 9.5s in his bucket of tough cards. By the time they got into BNC's hands (at least the matches I've found), they were already slabbed. The only reslabbed card I've found is the Reggie Miller that flipped sides in the case.

I think the next step with his Photobucket is trying to track down who sohrob bought his cards from. I'd like to see images of the cards before they were in his possession. This won't be easy but this is where the rest of the collecting community comes in. Who were the big names in collecting Exquisite at this time?

Scratch probably got buffed out. Nobody takes a photo of a card like that and allows it to look like the card has a scratch if it actually doesn't.

It looks there's something else there now where the scratch used to be almost like the card is bubbling or something. Am i crazy or does anyone else see the same thing? I can see like two little bubbles. Maybe they tried to mask it with an ink or paint and over time it's started to peel/bubble?

I think you are referring to the spot above the basketball....a white line on the first scan, missing from the second, and possibly covered with some type of paint/ink (?)...which only worked due to background having a patchy color to begin with.

As the surface went from 8 to 9.5, the biggest jump on grade....I am going to guess you are right.

You got it. If that was a scratch, whatever they used to buffer it out has damaged the surface over time. Nice!
