I can't believe with today's technology there are so many off centered cards in this set. Nice quality control...

We need a set where every card pulled is at least pristine 10 or higher.

I have some Optic and I really like the look of them. I think they look better in person. I also like the Prizm but hate sticker autos. So far most of my centering have looked pretty good.

I'm in for 250 cases though, so I have more say in this

Optic is the new chrome. On-card autos, and the superfractor design is the 1/1.

Got my first box in the mail yesterday and definitely prefer it to Prizm.

Panini does much better when it uses someone else's designs IMO. Prizm always just looks kind of fake to me with the weird borders. But to each their own.

Looks like regular retail is out. Wonder if there are any new refractor colors in them

Love this time of year when everyone is dumping prizm at insane-cheap prices since most players are out of the playoffs and people fearing contenders killing their sale prices.

Great time to buy!

I wouldn't say Optic is loaded unless you hit a Wentz, Dak, Zeke auto. More than likely you're going to get a $3.00 no name auto.

Back on topic, I do like the design of Optic and will eventually buy a set on ebay. Let me add, you have to be insane to buy Prizm at $140+ a box or Optic at $110 a box, 1 auto LOL.
2012 Chrome was not $70 a box trust me......

Like it or not this is a good thing for the football card hobby. I haven't seen this many people busting football product since....well....topps chrome and it will carry on over to Contenders. I give Panini one of it's first A+ since taking over football for Topps.

In regards to the lack of action shots in Optic, have you ever seen 1987 Donruss baseball? Damn near every card is a portrait picture of the player in an empty stadium. I think it was a nice homage to a "vintage" card design.
In regards to the design I think collectors seem to either love it or hate it. My biggest issue is that it borrows from strictly baseball sets with no connection to football. As a result it does not give me a sense of nostalgia from my early days of collecting. Instead I view it more as a rip off of a an older design rather than retro.

Ha, that would be pretty amazing. Though, It's pretty crazy to me how off-centered these cards are. Although, it does remind me of opening 1987 donruss baseball with all the off-centered cards.

Great rookie class for sure. I recall buying a box for around $75 at release. I'm sure that one spiked too.

I just finished my 4 boxes of Optic and these thoughts came to me.

1. We really need to enjoy this years version as it will never be this good again. Just like TC in 2014 it will get over ordered next year and will get watered down. I bet RR Autos go to 250 and the add more levels of refractors like TC did.

2. They fixed a lot of the issues or complaints about TC like only 1 auto per box? Well they made hot boxes and if you order a case you will get way more than 1 auto per box which is great.

3. It became hard to pull color in TC with the increased production, but in Optic I got at least 3 numbered colored refractors per box and 1/2 my autos were refractors. I also got one non autographed #/5, #/10 and a #/50 auto. Topps doesn't even have base refractors out of 5 and 10 only autos. There is no way you could get that many low print cards our of 4 boxes of TC.

4. They actually didn't SSP the good autos. This was a major issue I had with TC especially in 2012. Nobody knew that Luck's base auto was going to be that rare. I passed over other autos wanting a base auto to only find out later that it was a SSP. Think about people selling one early not knowing it's a SSP. Every Optic base RR auto is out of 150 so you have as good a shot of hitting a Dak as you do of anyone else on the RR checklist.

5. The odds of hitting a god box of this stuff is 10000X better than TC was. I have seen multiple box breaks of people hitting a Dak or Zeke auto and a #/5 or #/10 refractor, or a gold vinyl in the same box as a Hill auto. It's pretty fun seeing these breaks

Overall this product over delivers on the chrome concept and improves on it in my mind.

The design of the cards to me is fine but like any year its in the eye of the beholder.

Agree completely with your first point, and all of your points really.

This was a really strong product. Few and far between these days, so got to appreciate them.

I agree on all of this as well which is obviously why boxes went up 25% the date of release.

Do you know if the hanger boxes have numbered refractors/autos, or just the purple refractors?

Haven't seen any retail yet but I may check tonight.

The bolded above is true but the collector's mind is confusing...

I love the fact that Prizm is making retail fun again. With the base Daks and Zekes selling so well, plus the possibility of a red or blue, I haven't been buying retail like this in years. Haven't heard anything about Optic retail yet though.
