That was for the 2022 or 2023 release forward. They won't honor it back to 2018.

The retail releases for 18 bowman do not have Ohtani redemptions. Just BCA green autos /99 and paper parallels. No Acuna or Soto autos* - just Hunter Greene. It's a very tough pull to get anything worthwhile.

Wrong! If you hold you can make a thousand, and if you open you can lose a thousand.

There’s no Ohtani auto in that box.

As stated only 99 green autos. Count how many of those 99 exist in the open today.

I bought some 2017 topps chrome boxes a few years back during judge mania

got high one day and opened them

pulled a red refractor insert auto of david dahl and a orange refractor auto of hunter dozier

$800 down the drain

The reality is that the only way many people will own a proper (Bowman, TC, Finest, etc) Sho RC auto is if they open a box. Many are not disciplined enough to save, and for most it is downright not affordable. Taking a shot is fine as long as you know the risk.

There are products with reasonable odds (relative to others). You should be doing your own homework if you're willing to light $500+ on fire.

but theres a better chance you get struck by lightning in so cal than that happening

What's funny is that people open those boxes saying that all they want is a PC Ohtani auto and if they pull one it's PC forever and will be passed to their grand kids. Then if/when they miraculously pull one, it's on eBay or Goldin in a month. This is why it's really hard to take (most) people seriously when they swear something is PC. That said, many members in this thread are an exception to the above.

Agree with everyone above but one point not made...

18 bowman retail and blasters are the epitome of low floor cost and high ceiling pull possibility. There are many examples of wax over the years that fit this profile. Most boxes will be duds but the thrill of the chase when the chase is this high is worth it for a lot of collectors and gamblers. Bowman hobby and jumbo are the same, albeit with higher entry points and higher ceilings. If you want a low floor low ceiling product worth breaking, look at heritage high blasters or optic blasters.
