How is the "Playoff Push" going? I have sold two cards. Neither one is a qualifier, but I guess my huge sale has a good price out there. I will probably buy 50 penny hockey cards just so I can be an entrant in the random drawing. Unless there is a good port sale, I will not worry about getting anything more. I could see some low level ports going off this week. 2000 penny epack cards could quickly make a move up the board.

Too early to tell. It just opened at midnight PT so not even 6 hrs yet. Most US buyers are just waking up.
EDIT: it also seems to be doing that weird thing where the sale price isn’t showing up in my port display until you click on an individual card. Last edited by finfangfan; Yesterday at 07:46 AM. |

I'd love to be able to speak with some of the sellers who price this way - are you looking to sell cards or just make a museum on COMC? Makes no sense to me. Also ran one of my typical searches this morning, 70 new base cards shown as a result, all of which would be a loss if sold. People can point at the 25 cent increase, but I'll point at the fact that many of these cards already have 20+ copies out there. If a card wasn't selling at 70 cents, its certainly not going to be worth a seller submitting to price at 65 cents even before the change in fees. |

Weak early sales and I expect them to be lukewarm at best this week, even while running an aggressive 50% off. Weak on the buying side as well. Not many sales from accounts that have not been doing one already. This will probably be a fail for COMC expectations.

Ditto. Sales, albeit mostly cheap, are starting to trickle in. Low expectations and will be content to cash out a couple hundred in addition to snagging some stuff from the watch list.

Shipping update for anyone interested, or who is thinking of shipping during this promotion. On May 1st, I had a pleasantly surprising email that said my shipment (Standard), requested on 3/24 of only 24 cards was being packaged and was expected to ship on 5/6!
As of today 5/11, it is now due to ship 5/23 with 229,000 cards still in front. I'm hoping by posting this (I have seen others have a 200,000 jump in a few days), I can come back and say, it shipped within a few days! My bulk order from 2/18 btw is showing earlier than the June 4th target, but the rate this is going, I'm not confident. I've been watching the numbers, and I will say for awhile it seemed there was decent progress, but they haven't moved much at all in the last 7 to 14 days. |

One thing I learned from this thread that I think still applies to this new era of COMC is the value of running progressive sales if you want to maximize how much you sell. Start at 30, then go to 40, then 50 and keep going until you've sold the amount you're happy with. This strategy has worked well for me in their recent Clever Sale Name promotions, and have also seen more items selling for full price through COMC's eBay store over the last few weeks.

Best to just look at the target date they give you and hope they hit it. |

Nowadays, if they can come within a few weeks and they still package decently, I will consider a win. |

The sales have picked up in the last few hours. 75 sold. Mainly cheap stuff but if trends hold, I will reach the goal of snagging some watch list and cashing out some. |

I feel like $50ish-$100ish cards are the sweet spot for these types of sales. I have had 2 sales so far in the first 18hrs but am averaging $100 each. High volume of low dollar cards is one strategy, but don’t neglect having a nice selection of $50-$100 (or higher) cards in your shop. Even when im buying with my store credit from sales that tends to be the price point I’m shopping for… not bulk low dollar stuff.

I use COMC to move low dollar cards. They are still selling fine, BUT, the days of sending in dollar cards are gone. Now it needs to be $1.50 absolute minimum expected sale to account for higher upfront fees. If I buy a card in a quarter box and pay 65 cents to list it plus another dime or so to get it there, then I have about a buck into it. A buck fifty sale nets 42 cents. Chump change on its own but a decent chunk when moving a thousand, provided they don't sit for long else the listing fees become dead money and the monthly penny fees slowly erode margins. Also, If I run a 50% off sale, then I'd lose a quarter on each of those. As such, I'm mainly sending in cards I intend to price at $2 or even $3+. The rest will eventually end up in bulk player lots on eBay.

Breaking the low end itch is hard though. I still buy whatever I think looks cool even if selling prospects are low. Finding higher end cards with decent upside is hard though. I can tie up funds and make $10 profit on a $75 card or buy multiple $5-20 cards and make the same profit or more, and sometimes quicker. Its a hard trade off. |

to your point finfang the lack of quality cards over $100 I think is what is pushing people into that middle tier. Anything that is halfway decent has been shipped off the site, is too expensive, or is being auctioned.
