Agreed let's make our gimpy QB have to try and sprint to get to the spot for these stretch runs which didn't even work.

Dumb.

Chiefs will have to take it day by day and see how his ankle is. Going to need to rely more on the run game and short passes I think next week. Maybe include more screens as they didn't run many yesterday as McKinnon wasn't as involved.

I know it feels good to have Mahomes grit and bear it and pull out a great playoff win, but their medical team better make 100% sure he knows all of the risks of playing with whatever injury he has.

Remember, he injured his ankle early in the season in 2019 and played through it until he had to miss a few games with a dislocated kneecap.

All I'm saying is, these injuries pile up and if you keep playing through them, you risk a) further damage, b) compromising other ligaments and joints, and c) long-term instability to the area of the injury.

Every game he continues to play prevents the ankle from healing as it should. The Chiefs and Mahomes are in a no-win situation here, I suppose, but I'd be very concerned about the long-term implications of playing 2 more games on that ankle.

Thank you Dr. Packers. We know what you’re rooting for here.

I'm rooting for competitive games where no one gets injured and the 49ers win the SB. I'm not a Mahomes fan, but I'm also not a fan of seeing great players unnecessarily get significantly injured. The Chiefs should have let Henne finish that game.

Oh, yeah, the Mahomies weren't rooting with every last fiber of their being for Stafford and the Rams to take out Burrow last Feb...

Why was Rodgers playing with a broken thumb on his throwing hand all year? How dare the Packers keep him out there!

The Chiefs took Mahomes out of the game. Sent him in to get x-rays which were negative.

If it's just a sprained ankle tape it up and suck it up and that's what happened.

Andy has a bigger Patty collection than Henne.

Yeah, he should have rested it. We didn't do too well with his broken thumb, did we? Lost, what, 4 in a row after that? Dak sat 5 games with the same injury.

The greatest risk with injuries like that is a change in mechanics that increases risk of additional injury. Like Durant. Strained calf is a different beast than a sprained ankle.

Mahomes probably has a grade 1/2 sprain. He’s not going to be 100% next weekend, but they can get him close.

I was rooting for Burrow as I have more Burrow stuff than Stafford. It was cool to see Stafford get one though after being stuck in Detroit all those years. I like Burrow, I like Herbert, I'm not really a Josh Allen fan, but I can admit I was completely wrong about him in 2018. It's odd to me that people can't seem to be fans of more than one player or constantly need to crap on everyone who isn't their favorite player, but I suppose that's sports fans for ya.

With how he was hobbling in the 2nd quarter, that looked bad

But second half he looked much better. That rest and work on his ankle helped a ton.

I do think he isn't going to be 100%, and that might limit his mobility next week. Key word might, because it didn't exactly affect him a ton in the 2nd half, although it was still somewhat apparent it was bothering him.

High ankle sprain. IDK if Patty plays Sunday, but he's a sitting duck if he does.

KC has their work cut out for then. All bad choices.

He's playing...

And hopefully it's a lot like 2020 when he came back to play the AFC title game vs the Bills coming off a concussion and a torn plantar plate and lit them up for 324 yards, 3 TDs and no INTs.

It seems like there's a lot of misunderstanding here. He has a high ankle sprain, not a sprained ankle, not a grade 1/2 sprain - there's a HUGE difference between an ankle sprain and a high ankle sprain.

It wouldn't shock me if the Chiefs don't allow him to play. What he has is a significant injury that puts his entire leg at risk. If that thing gets tweaked only slightly next week, no way he continues.

I really don't think you guys realize how significant this injury is. People don't just "play through it."

When I was 18 I had one from playing basketball

I was on crutches for 10 days.

My side of foot and top of foot was completely black from bruise

It hurt for about 6 months

1 week won’t help at all. It amazes me he played yesterday.

I do think he will play but mobility will be zero

He’s Superman but this might be his kryptonite

Mahomes will lose a leg next week against the Bengals defense. That makes me sad.

TJ I think it might be time for you to come out and admit you were wrong about Burrow

No... I think I'm still right about him, although he's improving as time goes along.

He's a good quarterback who does what is asked of him to win since he's in the exact right situation.

This is a guy who has thrown 8 TDs in 6 career playoff games. He's never had his defense give up more than 24 points.

He's a good QB, but he's never had a QBR reach 60, etc. That being said, if he wins, he wins. Troy Aikman is a HOF because he won 2 SBs.

^^^bro stop you’re in denial he owns Mahomes and has the highest completion percentage in the history of the game but yeah he’s not very good! You better hope Mahomes doesn’t play because he will get embarrassed if he does. He better just keep his ankle on ice.

Wait, are you telling me the QBs play each other? I thought they went up against each other's defenses.

KC QB Rating against: 94%
Bengals QB Rating against: 80%

So yes, Joe will get his, as has every QB who has played KC, but you already knew that didn't you...What if one legged Patty pulls off a W. Will you cream your pants?
