This is how cheap they were, wonder what that guy is thinking today.

Thanks! I picked it up during the offseason before they won the Super Bowl, shortly before the prices would have been out of my reach!

The gold looks pretty sweet, although I've never seen one in person, and is more rare, but I totally agree, I think the tie dye looks better. The colors in it are pretty amazing.

I bought my first 2 Mahomes cards early in the 2018 season, off the Beckett Marketplace, without even seeing pictures of them first LOL. Picked up his Panini base for $4.99 and his Optic Red and Yellow for $24.99. Those were the first sports cards I had bought it almost 20 years, so I had no idea how much the hobby had changed, or which brands were the best to invest in. Because the big collection of what were some of the best rookies in baseball that I bought when I was a teenager are worth even less now than they were then, I was hesitant to go ahead and start spending a lot of money on cards again... Big mistake
Mahomes is who got me back into collecting, and I'm fortunate to have bought many of his cards early, all of which have gone way up in value since, but there are sooooo many of his cards that I should have bought instead of some of the ones I did. It's been a very fun ride though, and I've learned a lot (mostly the hard way!)

This is my exact same journey for me. Got back in in 2018 cuz of Mahomes. Just started buying things.. If I knew what I was doing id be rich... Got some good cards tho for crazy cheap.. Been a STH for 10 years and thought I should get some of his cards.. Have amassed a pretty cool player collection.. Easily my favorite athlete ever. KC is blessed. Awesome to have this kid as my QB.

Yeah, he really is awesome. After I bought those first 2 cards off Beckett I moved onto eBay, which is when I saw for the first time what a huge variety of Mahomes cards there were to choose from. In the beginning I mostly bought rare, nice looking patch cards, while constantly skipping over the ones I should have been buying, like the Prizms that were a dime a dozen back then. I'm glad I was at least smart enough to buy quite a few low serial numbered cards, even though they aren't considered by many to be "true" rookies. Who knows though, things are always changing, and maybe some day those cards will catch up...

WOW. If we knew then what we know now, you probably would have bought 100 of those LOL. I remember turning down a counter offer for a /49 Prizm Red Power for $550. I wanna punch myself in the face every time I think about it!

Yes, I am grateful for that. I also try to take advantage whenever there's a dip in the market.

If he had held on to them for a couple years he could have bought a very nice car with them!

I'm sure everybody could point back to 2017/2018 and laugh the the prices.

If we didn't have that Covid situation, would stuff have risen as high as they did? Who knows.

In a span of 6 months though, an Optic PSA 10 in February 2020 went from being a $200 card to a $1,500ish card. That is INSANE bump in such a short period of time.

His Prizm was a hot seller before settling down. Do people see his prices on base stuff like that really going up more over time like it did? I think his high end stuff will appreciate well, just the base stuff hard to say IMO.

If he wins 4 MVPs and 3 SBs current prices will be a steal longterm.

I don't think I have to explain how awesome of a piece this is. I'll vividly remember watching this game for a long long time. So getting able to own a piece of the action is something I couldn't resist.

Photomatched to the fourth quarter of the game.

That's a keeper right there.

Recent Patrick pickup:

Looks like it will be Chargers.

Don’t see Baltimore or Miami winning.

I mean the Chargers scared me more than the Jags... hopefully the Chiefs don't come out asleep the first half....

I will take the Jags any day. Stars are aligning for the Chiefs. I am absolutely terrified at playing the Bills or the Bengals. I'm not overlooking the Jags...actually yes I am. Bills/Bengals terrify me. I will be a wreck for that game.

Yeah I do think the Jags is an easier matchup than the Chargers for KC.

But still have to go out and play it.

Bills/Bengals just hoping they come away with wins today and also don't have any bad injuries.

Going to rewatch the Chiefs/Jags game from earlier this year here and tell you what I think

Thoughts rewatching Chiefs Jags:

Final score was 27-17, but the game didn't feel that close.

Notes from the rewatchL
-Jags begin the game recovering onside kick. Doubt that happens again.
-First Drive: Pacheco fumbles inside the 10
-Chiefs defensive line dominating the game
-Chiefs carving the defense up with downfield crossing routes in the first half. Jags can't cover correctly
-Juju got KO'd from dirty hit to the head. Exited in 2nd qtr
-This game was Toney's coming out party. He reminds me a bit of Deebo Samuel the way he makes guys miss
-After second TD, missed XP by Butker
-Squib kick to Fortson, who fumbles the ball back to the Jags. Another turnover
-Second have the Jags adjusting to the crossing routes, throwing more underneath stuff to McKinnon
-Mahomes with a needless interception trying to make a play
-Final possession, Chiefs able to get the first downs needed to run out the clock.

I really like the Chiefs outlook in this game. I'd be shocked if the Jags could defend the Chiefs offense all of the sudden. Even with 4 turnovers last game, it was pretty comfortably in hand.

Just avoid the turnovers again and I think KC will be fine.
