People love to try and maximize every sale. Not the worst to leave a little on top for the next guy to make. Think about whos the biggest winner. Rip a $25 blaster plus $175 to grade (hypothetically) $200 all in and sell for $30k and the next guy immediately flips it for his $44k, same price hes claiming on Wander. You make 29.8k and he makes 14k for his buying power and cashing you out. Not a bad deal for those parties. The sucker is at the end of the road not the beginning. |

I’ll keep saying this: how many people have sold a card of this value?
Very few. Dude is being dumb as hell but I don’t think it’s due to any other reason except he’s out of his league with a card like this…like 99.9% of the hobby would be. |

Anyone $25-30k in credit card debt should not be messing with baseball cards.
Is that common? Or am I that naive? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I know a bunch of guys that get in over their heads. Hell there was a roofer 20 years ago that would come into lcs and buy case after case and rip nonstop. Late 90s/early 00s |

But what’s new in this hobby. I say the Julio Sapphire purple auto is an $8-10k card and I get labeled a hater. This isn’t 2021 anymore. People need to get realistic with the true value of the items they are trying to sell.

He's trying to hard. Just wait until spring training and put it at auction with one of the big guys. That's all you have to do. You'll get what it's worth and you can move on.

I agree with most of the above. The one point I may differ on a tad is timing. If you don't think there are alot of people waiting "till spring" to list the big Julio they've been holding for 4-36 months for ultimate payoff you haven't been paying close attention. There's a reason that the spring run up as it's percieved has been ramping up earlier and earlier every year and I think its created more of a mid-January to mid march even leveled surge in pricing as opposed to the day players report everything doubles. There will be a glut of high end Jrod offerings in early to mid March that may supress prices a tad vs what is expected "when spring hits" IMO.
The going on twitter and explaining to everyone why this card is worth this or that or comparing to what other similar cards have sold for is unintentional arrogant sabatoge child's play and undoubtably detrimental to sales efforts. I'd argue that most of the knowledgeable people realistically in the market for this level of card may even consider it intellectually condescending.

It’s not that easy. Guy posted he was going to send it to pwcc (not goldin) for March or April premier auction. You just don’t get a card to them a day or two before these things either. Holding such a valuable asset, outside of your comfort zone financially, is not easy. Dude is going to do fine with the card. It can be stressful trying to sell things of that value. |

The bigger thing is that it hasn’t been that long. People are acting like it’s been months of guy trying to sell this card personally. I don’t even think it’s been a single month since guy pulled the card. |

99 cent 10 day auction, start it on a Thursday evening, and let her rip. Easy peasy.

He’s devaluing the card with every single “for sale” post. He’s showing the high end buyers that the market isn’t there (over and over again).

If I ever pull an item $10k or more, I know who’s advice I’d be taking (several board members here)

Exactly. Curious to see what my poll results are (new thread) about selling a high dollar item. Everyone acting like they know what to do even though they’ve likely never done it. |

Almost as good as giving a five figure price estimate for a card when they’ve never spent more than $1000 for one.

Send to PWCC.
Take cash advance of ~half the value. Spend it all Sells at auction a month later for a LOT less than you thought. PWCC comes after you for part of that advance you spent. I don't know why we rip at all. Just a hassle waiting for you in that pack. |

The joy of it just gets sucked out by the toxic investor mentality of maxing out… not that there’s anything wrong with that.
