Which everyone knows, since they actually read the fangraphs glossary (jk nobody does), is that difference is meaningless. We see voters given mvps to other players because they want someone different all the time in other sports. I'm not saying Judge won't get it, but I think Cal has a strong shot plus he's on fire this month and I can see him getting to 63. Sea has 2 vs KC, 3 @Hou, then home for COL and LAD. Heck he could hit 6 in the 3 games vs the rockies lol

To put it another way, if Cal breaks the HR record as a switch hitting catcher, he's getting the MVP. Judge is having another all time year, but he's having a 9-10 fwar season, not a 11-12 fwar season and that's a big difference.

No disagreement, plus it's not a lock. Acuna had 8.4 to Betts 8.6 in 2023 but totally dominated with the bat and legs. Goldschmidt had 7.7 winning it in 2022 while Arrenado was 7.9. If anyone got hosed in recent years, it was Soto in 2021 with a 7.3 WAR while Harper only posted 5.9. One could make an argument Bregman got hosed (8.9) to Trout (7.9) in 2019... but Trout (9.5) got hosed my Donaldson (7.4) in 2015, so call it even. That -2.1 spread is the largest I recall for non-pitchers. Judge is +1.9. Not a lock based on the Donaldson year but still the advantage. I wouldn't at all complain if Cal got it. It's pretty rare for a catcher to land one. Only three since Munson in 1976.

But they'll look at war not fwar. 8.4 to 6.5

One last point. Do you want your MVP being 43rd best in any counting stat that is important? Cal Raleigh is 43rd in batting average in the AL. He's also tied for 27th in hits. That's not very MVP-like in my book.

Well whoever gets it doesn’t matter! Because I’m fanatical about one player who will go down eventually as the greatest batter of all time
And I finally picked one up! Don’t forget the season isn’t over yet ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Would it though? Found these in the Cal Raleigh thread. You'll put up with my Yankee trolling and you will like it! |

There's almost 100 pts between them in BA.
I get that he's a switch hitting catcher, but has there ever been a MVP with a BA sub .250?

Judge is batting against righties and lefties, all while batting right handed.. So it should be harder for him to hit righties, but he seems to be good. Advantage Judge! |
