As a heritage lover, no Ohtani autos this year hurt.

Yeah.. this year's H was not good. Bought into a few breaks, got lucky on a Roki ROA, got out. No interest in speckle lava refractors or golds /50 or /76. Plus they recycled the picture for Bowman. So lazy.

Yeah this stuff hurts my heart. I really like putting together a full run of different releases/parallels, and Topps switching things up constantly is really frustrating.

They’ll be in Series 2. All of them, even the missing S1 blacks.

Wait was this due to the backlash? I'm always behind on news and you're the first person to tell me this

Yeah them axing the blacks was another nutpunch, glad they came to their senses on that one...for now anyway.

Ready to make that trade, Scott, just holla.

I have a confession to make. Over the last 4 months I have been drastically downsizing my Ohtani PC. At the start of this year his cards represented roughly 40% of the value of my collection - I was not comfortable with this so I started selling some in January.

His share of my PC dropped down to 30% and I thought that would be enough but upon seeing the prices I could get for my three biggest Shoheis I decided I'd rather have that money than those three cards and I sold them last weekend.

I still love Ohtani and will be curating my topload binders with his cards and watching him dominate MLB pitching (and hitters soon) for hopefully years to come but I just can't jive with the prices his mid-high end cards are fetching these days.

Below are the 10 graded Ohtanis I decided to keep but I will hopefully replace the Transcendent Japan with an Indy Ohtani/Ichiro 2018 one of these days.

Yep, saw the trio of 9s on FB that looked awfully familiar. Every card has a journey - all good, man.

My collection is 80% Ohtani and I sleep great at night

Yeah, part of this decision admittedly is just getting myself in a better financial position.

Who knows, I often change my mind so you might see me posting big Ohtani pickups in a year or two. For now though I'll still enjoy sharing the bargain box finds I pickup at shows.

The dad strength just took a few days to cook. Here's to another 50/50 season from the unicorn!

Makes sense. Definitely worth getting financially secured! Great choice

My only New Years' resolution in 2025 was to be net-zero on baseball cards for the year. So far I'm net-positive over $10k in spite of picking up nearly $20k worth of vintage.

Nah, its not a bad thing. Collection moving in a different direction for now and I'm not spending much these days.

Always a shot that when my two big pre-war projects conclude I hop right back on the Ohtani-train.
