Sorry for being obtuse but what is the implication? That nymetsrp86/globalcardvault got caught shilling, decided to rename themselves, but paid for the PSA 6 Red Ink and had Comc consign it for a vastly inflated price? Or that this seller of the PSA 6 Red Ink got ghosted by nymetsrp86/globalcardvault and decided to consign it via Comc, again at a crazy price? Sorry I mean this in earnestness, sometimes shenanigans in the hobby can be hard to follow

I assumed that they didn't pay for the card because:

(1) it's not in their possession (most cards seem to be based on their Instagram)

(2) No positive feedback from COMC on payment

(3) Changing eBay/IG username, pretty bid red flag

If they bought the card to re-list on COMC, #2 and #3 (particularly #3) doesn't make much sense.

Shilling is a lame practice, and when done on high-end cards, can cause people to pay significantly more (potentially thousands) unnecessarily. When caught, it needs to be brought to everyone's attention. Hopefully someone can prove me wrong though.

Card was clearly shilled by a dude that owns a copy and wants to inflate the perceived value of a different grade to sell his own. This is only acceptable if you're willing to pay for the card you won. Otherwise, it's pathetic.

Card manipulation happens. It happened with the Bowman chrome #1 a couple summers ago and it will continue to happen. People that do this aren't collectors. They're flippers.

I'll add that there's nothing crappier as a collector to bid seriously on a PC item but have no chance because of jackasses like this.

Thanks. Still trying to figure out why the seller would consign it at even a higher price if it was obvious they got ghosted on payment. That’s a massive increase!

I had my suspicions but I'm glad to know where you stand on the matter.

I created a thread about it because I don't want it to get buried here. Shillers, as well as card trimmers and thieves, need to have the spotlight shined on them.

2018 Topps High Tek RT-SO /25. This card I think has to be held in hand to be appreciated. It has a galactic refractor pattern on the back.




2018 Bowman High Tek Pattern 8. This card has a print run of less than 20. I picked up a second one this off season.



2018 Stadium Club gold minted (PR around 75) and 2018 Topps chrome silver pack /50.



2018 Topps gold label /150, /99, /50. These cards are great in hand and love that Ohtani is both pitching and hitting.



Lastly I really like the 2018 Topps on demand M21 3-D insert hitting card. Reminds me of some of the early 90s cards I collected as a kid.

Not sure if anyone saw this because I posted over the weekend...but will follow up soon with my other top cards that are more mainstream that the board will probably like more than my favorites.

I see and appreciate your cards Sean! Very nice stuff and I am a big fan of the High Tek cards, so many cool parallels and designs! I still have to share mine when I get a chance to dig them out, so hard to decide on which haha even though they've probably been shown off here before

I agree, it is really hard to choose! I stopped collecting as a kid during the early 90's during the junk wax era and started collecting again during covid. The difference in the card thickness and quality is astounding today. When upper deck first came out it changed everything with baseball cards. So today I am really drawn to all the interesting cards like High Tek, atomic refractors, refractors, foil cards etc. These cards are amazing in hand compared to the junk wax era.

For reference, ebay user ID nymetsrp86 sold the Ohtani 2018 Bowman Chrome Pitching Orange Auto 17/25 BGS9.5 last October 2024 on ebay for $200k.

He confirmed that it was paid for, on a post on the Shohei Ohtani Collectors Facebook group.

Finally got to consigning my Ohtani rookies. Just raw crap out of packs, nothing special. Late last year I couldn't get anyone to take them all for $100.00. If any end under $10.00 I have to pay $3.00 in fees, so I was worried a couple of the crappier ones I'd end up paying to get rid of. Here's where they all ended today:
